In order to create three distinct personalities, Marci Miller had to work extra hard on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), but what she’s received in return is priceless.
The actress shared a snap on social media from six months ago (meaning when she was shooting what we’re now seeing on air) of her exhausted and laying on her couch with a script, which you can see below.
“Soap opera is hard. A constant struggle between the desire to be an artist telling a meaningful story and the literal circumstances of shooting over 100 pages a day,” she wrote.
Considering how the show tries to shoot more than one episode a day, it’s not surprising that she has to memorize so many pages.
In the past, it never would have been that much because an hour’s script usually totaled between 80-90 pages.
With this new shooting schedule, Miller tells us what her workload is like but there is a silver lining to working that hard and she let us know via some tweets.
Miller said that was been looking forward to the opportunity to work with legendary actress Deidre Hall (Marlena) since the day she learned she got her DAYS, and how happy this chance to work with her had made her.
That enthusiasm was obvious for anyone who watched their scenes the past two days. Watching these two go toe-to-toe was a joy to see — and a master class in subtlety.
It will be interesting to see how Marlena reacts if (hopefully when) she realizes that she was duped by Dr. Laura.
Either way, chances are Miller will be thrilled because there are definitely more scenes between these two powerhouse actresses — and we’re all the better for it.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
