Seeing Past Serial: Can You Forgive Ben On Days of Our Lives?

Ben may not have been the one who nearly killed Ciara in a fire on Days of Our Lives. But he did commit all those necktie killings – even if Will (Chandler Massey) popped up again, (almost) good as new.

Hope (Kristian Alfonso) can’t look past it. Tripp (Lucas Adams) can’t look past it. Most of Salem can’t look past it. How about you? Here’s what almost 5,000 fans had to say.

Duh, it’s a soap, 66% remind. We look past things ALL THE TIME. We looked past Steve (Stephen Nichols) being Victor’s hired thug. And we looked past Victor being…Victor (John Aniston).

We pretend to believe that Roman (Josh Taylor) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) have twins who came from outer space (we know, we know, they didn’t, but, come on, for a while there, we had to believe it).

We’ve been through Marlena (Deidre Hall) coming back from the dead, and all of John’s (Drake Hogestyn) identities, and Sami (Alison Sweeney)… oh, God, what haven’t we overlooked when it comes to Sami?

Most recently, Abigail (Marci Miller) plead innocent to all her crimes – her alters did it! Gabi (Camila Banus) isn’t buying, but everyone else is. So, Ben (Robert Scott Wilson)? Yeah, sure, why not? Let’s take another look at those abs.

We’re with Hope, 43% of you counter. Ben isn’t some jaywalker. He’s not even a corporate raider. Ben KILLED people. He STRANGLED them. With a necktie.

And then he kidnapped Abigail and made her give birth in a cabin – sans drugs. You might have been able to overlook the former. But never, ever the latter. Soaps’ audiences are mostly women, many of whom have been through the labor thing once or twice and nope, no forgiveness.

Ben is a bad person and, like Hope, you intend to keep reminding Ciara (Victoria Konefal) of that.
