Another veteran soap opera actor recently discovered he was the victim of a horrible online scam and took to Instagram and Twitter account to warn fans.
For the third time in two weeks, a major soap star has had someone impersonating them on Instagram. Earlier this months, Daniel Goddard, who plays Cane on The Young and the Restless, warned fans of the imposter.
Not long after, his co-star Kristoff St. John (Neil) found that someone was using the memory of his late son to scam people for money.
Now it’s Stephen Nichols’ (Steve, Days of Our Lives; ex-Stefan, General Hospital; ex-Tucker, The Young and the Restless) turn.
“Heads up everyone! There is someone impersonating me on IG. They use the account stephen_e_nichols_private. This individual is sending messages to some of you. I have reported this to Instagram.”
Then, the same thing happened to Goddard, who made a video and posted it on his official account to also warn his followers. Hopefully, other actors take note of what’s happening to their fellow soap stars and are extra vigilant with their own social media accounts.
These things seem to happen in spurts. For a while there, it was cyberbullying actresses about their appearance, with many of them, including Heather Tom (Katie, The Bold and the Beautiful), fighting back against the haters.
Considering the fact that social media has given fans unprecedented access to their favorites with the ability to get instant feedback at their fingertips, it’s unfortunate that a few bad apples are trying to ruin things.
Hopefully those engaging in these horrible scams will get tired of it and find something else to do… and preferably use their powers for good.
