Say What? Rafe’s Dubious Double Standard on Days of Our Lives (DOOL)

So, this week it’s time for A Martinez to say his final farewell to Salem and Days of Our Lives (DOOL), and he does so in dramatic fashion as he falls right into Deimos’s trap and Rafe is forced to arrest him.

Soap Hub believes we were supposed to feel some sympathy for Rafe (Galen Gering) as he had to make the decision to stay true to his upstanding cop ways and arrest his own father, but then we remembered something.

Didn’t Rafe totally forget he was a cop last year to help not-quite-girlfriend (yet) Hope (Kristian Alfonso) bury Stefano’s (Joseph Mascolo) dead body in rubble and then cover up the crime for months on end? Why yes, yes he did, making these new scenes with Eduardo seem hollow.

We’re now to believe that Rafe, who had no problem covering for Gabi a few years back, and then covered up a first degree murder months after being reinstated, could not forget his call to duty once again to save his own father??? Who’s zoomin’ who, here?

Yes, we know Rafe and Eduardo have had a tumultuous relationship, seeing that Eddie left the Hernandez clan high and dry with Adriana having four kids.

Rafe was the oldest and had to help raise his siblings, but Eduardo has explained his reasoning (however outlandish they are–he was a paid assassin with a family as a cover) and the two have forged a relationship over the past 18 months.

Well, apparently that relationship is child’s play compared to the one Rafe had with his partner in January of 2016, a woman he pined for as she still mourned the death of two husbands in a 24-hour period.

Despite some great scenes with Eduardo’s other two kids, the entire scenario fell flat because nobody remembered what he did for Hope just last year.

Considering, Hope got out of that mess not two months ago, you’d think it would still be fresh on their minds.

We understand that Martinez opted to leave DAYS behind and the soap needed to write him out in some sort of dramatic fashion, but forgetting character history from 14 months ago just isn’t it.
