We knew it couldn’t last forever and that it wasn’t going to last forever, and it’s already coming to a close–meaning Alison Sweeney’s return engagement as Sami wraps up next week on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
According to the December 18 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Sami makes amends with Will and other family members–and promises Rafe she’ll never tell about their night together–but then leaves to be with her other children for the holidays.
Sweeney told Digest this stint was perfect because she got to play a host of character types all in a short period of time.
“I loved it all. It wasn’t just a grieving mother or hysterical ex, or violent woman, it was all of the above,” she said. “For me to play all of those feelings in one story and to get to work with so many people in one story and have the story move through quickly was perfect.”
Of course, Sweeney says she’d love to return again, but like this time, she’d need it to be a quick story arc, and an important one.
“Now I feel a little bit of pressure. It was a great run and a great arc and I would want to save it for big moments like that.”
Salem certainly has not been boring since Sami returned and she did stir up quite a few lives. She got her son back, which was her goal, but she also had a moment of insanity (among many moments of insanity) when she slept with Rafe and that can have story reverberations for quite a long time on quite a few people.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
