Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) took a ripped-from-the headlines story, and made it personal. Cop JJ (Casey Moss) shot an unarmed Theo (Kyler Pettis).
Of course, Theo was trying to break into a building at the time. He may have been doing it on Kate’s (Lauren Koslow) order, but JJ had no way of knowing that.
Theo’s dad, Mayor Abe (James Reynolds), doesn’t care about the circumstances. All he knows is that his son is in a coma, and the cop responsible for it has just been cleared by the Salem Police Department’s Internal Affairs department.
So they’ve forgiven him, and Abe never intends to. But what about the rest of Salem, and, by extension, the DAYS fans? Here is how over 3,000 voted:
JJ Is OK
It’s no contest, 98% of you are on JJ’s side, the same as Internal Affairs.
It was dark, JJ couldn’t see who the perp was, and Theo was holding something that could look like a gun. He warned him to drop his weapon, and then he shot, just as procedure dictates.
Plus, it’s not like JJ went gunning for just anyone. He was called in to a crime in progress. He did the right thing. Forgive him.
Throw the Book At Him
A little over 1% don’t agree. JJ is supposed to be a trained professional. The whole point of being a trained professional is that you don’t shoot first and ask questions later. If you’re entrusted with a gun, you are also expected to show some sound judgment, and JJ did no such thing.
Add to that the way he responded to Ben’s (Robert Scott Wilson) taunting earlier, and it’s obvious the Deveraux scion is just not crime-stopping material. He needs to turn in his badge. And it looks like he knows it and wants to turn in his life, as well.
