When Eric got drunk that fateful night on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) and ended up killing his best friend Daniel, it seemed like that was the final nail in the couple that was Ericole. Of course, if Daniel had lived, that might have been the end too. But this seem to really be the end.
After all, Eric (Greg Vaughan) went to prison, and Nicole was a raging mess. Then a miracle happened — Eric got an early release. So that was one obstacle down, but Nicole still hated him so intensely for what he had done.
Others intervened like Daniel’s mother, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), and Eric’s brother, Brady (Eric Martsolf).
He even asked Eric to go save Nicole for him since he was laid up in the hospital with a bullet wound and she was in grave danger.

Even that effort, risking his own life, wasn’t enough for Nicole (Arianne Zucker) to forgive the man who killed the man she loved.
But then community service for kidnapping her own daughter led Nicole back into Eric’s orbit.
Slowly she’s seen the man he’s become and all he’s done to try to atone for his sins. Was there really any hope for fans of this long suffering couple? A little drug called Halo 2.0 came into the picture and it allowed them both to make peace with Daniel — and hearts started to mend.
But today head writer Ron Carlivati tweeted out something surprising (see below). Couple that with the delightful episode that aired today, where Nicole discovered those letters Eric wrote from prison and her wanting to keep them — well, could Ericole be Nicole’s endgame?
Here’s hoping that it’s on his arm that Nicole waltzes off into the sunset when she bids adieu to Salem at the end of the year.
