Alex Tries to Make Sense of Joy’s Claim
On Instagram, DAYS’ official page shared a video with Wilson in character, captioned, “Salem Confessional: A surprise like this changes everything. Alex opens up about Joy’s (AlexAnn Hopkins) return, the paternity test, and what happens next. Do you think Alex is ready for the truth and to be a father? Sound off in the comments!”
Wilson, in character as Alex, started off trying to keep it light, almost talking himself through it as he went. The subtitle “Alex Kiriakis, Salem Confessional” was overlaid on the video as he sat down, got settled in, and said, “It’s cheaper than therapy. So, life was going pretty good. Newly married. Relationship was great. Then I get a knock on my door. Joy to the world, not the song…a little girl. Wanted to be an actor.”
He explained that he had worked with her on a soap opera, noting that things had happened between them. He stated that she returned to Salem with “somebody else:” a baby. He admitted he didn’t quite know how to react at first, saying, “I just was, you know, happy to see Joy, but was so curious, and to make a long story short, she’s saying that this baby’s mine.”

Alex Knows This Doesn’t Add Up
Alex then stated that the child’s name was Kelsey, and thought it went well with his last name. “Kelsey Kiriakis,” he tried it out. From there, he started picking at the details, trying to make sense of what he knows about Joy and what she’s telling him now. “Because my head, I know Joy. She wanted to be an actor. She’s good at playing pretend. She wants to do it for a living. I met her doing a little soap opera… I was the lead; she worked with me.” He explained that he worked on a soap with her.
He acknowledged the timing wasn’t impossible, adding that it could have happened when he and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) were on a break. “So, all while this is going on, my wife is with her father at a shooting range. She’s learning how to shoot a gun,” he remarked, noting that she was struggling after being kidnapped, and he felt bad adding this news to her list of stresses.
He pondered whether he was really the child’s father, and if Joy wanted to break him and his wife up. He ended on the one thing he could control, saying, “I’m gonna get to the bottom of it… the last thing I want to do is make things any worse. So, we’re gonna find out what’s going on with old Joy. And I guess I’ll be back here. I’ll keep you posted.”
