On the May 14 episode of Days of our Lives, Gabi and Ari went to war over Ari’s infatuation with Liam. Gabi can see the dark path her daughter is heading down, and she wants to save her from the pain Gabi has already lived through. Ari, on the other hand, knows there is nothing of use her mother could possibly say. Ari is a young person. And young people are just smarter. But what if Ari is headed for the same tragedy as her mom?

Key Takeaways

  • Ari thinks she knows what to expect from Liam
  • Gabi has been through some horrible things
  • Ari could face the same trauma

Gabi (Cheri Jimenez) was a teen mom who was sent to prison for a crime she didn’t commit – something that Ari (Vico Escorcia) dared use against her, whining about how she wasn’t there for Ari, which is why she wanted to live with Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Freddie Smith). Gabi would like for neither of those things to happen to her precious Ariana. But Ari dismissed her concerns. As if Ari would ever let that happen to her! She is SO much savvier than her mom, who knows nothing about the world or how life works.

But that prison term may not even be the worst thing that ever happened to Gabi. Not even the prison term before that, one for a crime she did commit, was. What may have been the worst thing that happened to Gabi was the reason she went to prison the first time – for killing her abusive husband, Nick (Blake Berris). That’s another mistake Ari is sure she would never make. She is too smart to get involved with a bad guy like Nick.

Two Faced

Except abusers don’t always come with a sign that says, “Hey, I’m a guy who can’t control his temper.” But sometimes there are hints. Like, say, a criminal record. Like, say, an ex who he claims died of an overdose. Like a bad attitude. And a history of being a high school bully. Liam (Hank Horthrop) checks all those boxes. Gabi has every right to worry. And Ari might well be on her way to making all the same mistakes as her mother.
