The announcement that Days of Our Lives head writer Dena Higley had been replaced by former General Hospital writer Ron Carlivati sparked talk that the soap could be saved.
After all, Salem has been a dark, dark place for well over a year and rumors have circulated that it might be canceled.
Those rumors have subsided some now that NBC says Megyn Kelly will have a morning news show and not an afternoon one, but can Salem still find some of its former glory? Soap Hub asked if you think a new writer can infuse new life into the 51-year-old soap.
A full 89% of you think new writing blood is EXACTLY what this flailing soap needs. Some of you are even convinced the Carlivati will bring back characters you feel Higley never should have killed–namely Will Horton in the form of Chandler Massey. (Although some of you also want Bo back, but know Peter Reckell doesn’t want to return.)
Sadly, the other 11% don’t have much hope for the future of DAYS and think it’s too far gone to ever return to its former glory. It’s become too morose and characters are way too off track to ever be the same again. You don’t think new blood will make people flock back to the show but hope it doesn’t lose any more ground.
Some of you just want to see more realistic storylines and pray Carvilati can deliver before NBC gives up on its last soap all together.
