There was Christmas decorating, a catfight, and a coma, and the Days of our Lives recap for the week of December 9-13, 2024 covers it all.
In Salem, things got tense between several couples, while things took an unexpected turn in Vancouver.

Chanel (Raven Bowens) walked in on Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) mid-flight and Johnny covered for himself by claiming that Alex had slept with Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins). Alex went along with the story, but once Chanel left the room, he lashed out at Johnny but promised he wouldn’t reveal the truth.
As for Joy, as soon as EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was about to pay her way out of Salem, Kate (Lauren Koslow) appeared. EJ told her Joy was quitting and leaving Salem, but when Kate reminded Joy that she has a contract, Joy decided she needed to stay. When she later visited Alex to inform him of her decision, he revealed to her the new story about their supposed one night stand.
While Leo (Greg Rikaart) met with Rafe (Galen Gering) to help find the new Lady Whistleblower, they realized the culprit could be Hattie (Deidre Hall). He also vented to Rafe about his relationship trouble with Javi (All Calderon), and when the two had a run-in later in the square, Leo realized Javi was going on a date with another former fling, Jerry (Derek Yates).
Hope (Kristian Alfonso) reunited with Steve (Stephen Nichols), Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), and Roman (Josh Taylor) and shared her concerns about Doug III (Peyton Meyer). Despite getting confirmation a Doug III did indeed exist, she remained suspicious of the new Salem resident. Meanwhile, as Doug III remembered watching Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) with the necklace through the window of the Horton House, and when Julie tried looking for the necklace, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) had to tell her it was missing and Steve (Stephen Schnetzer) was their suspect. When Hope later stopped by to say goodbye to Julie, she warned Doug III that she would return if he dared to hurt Julie.
In Vancouver, JJ (Casey Moss) woke up to find Gabi’s (Cherie Jimenez) hand resting on his chest, while Chad (Billy Flynn) comforted Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) after a nightmare about her mother. Thanks to some help from Steve, Chad and Cat went to the backroom of a club where Clyde (James Read) ordered them to appear, while JJ and Gabi sneaked into Clyde’s apartment. Clyde barged in and held them at gunpoint while Chad and Cat were faced with Cat’s mother, Catharina (Susan Elena Matus), holding a gun to them.
Leo met with Marlena (Deidre Hall) to discuss how one ex is dating another ex, while Kerry and Javi enjoyed another date at the pub until Leo unexpectedly ran into them. On another relationship front, after Brady (Eric Martsolf) as argued with Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) over taking their daughter to see The Nutcracker, he ran into Ava (Tamara Braun) and offered her his extra ticket as a date.
Over in Vancouver, as Clyde held Gabi at gunpoint, JJ kept his own weapon firm while Catharina revealed she didn’t recognize Cat and Chad realized she was brainwashed. Chad got a handle on Catharina before receiving an SOS from JJ and hurrying to the apartment. Chad clocked Clyde, then shook him awake, demanding answers about Abigail’s body, while Catharina got away with the gun. Just before Clyde could answer, Catharina appeared and shot Clyde.
After Catharina shot Clyde, Chad was filled with rage, unable to get the answers. Chad went in the ambulance with Clyde while, back in Salem, Aaron (Louis Tomeo) called Cat for an update and she revealed their mother had just taken off with a gun. Cat later met Chad at the hospital, where she said goodbye to her mother as she was arrested. Later, the doctor told Chad that Clyde ended up in a coma.
Back in Salem, two supercouples kept things light as Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly (Ashley Puzemis) took a break from homework to go ice skating, then ran into a distraught Aaron and helped him make a Christmas list for his younger sister. Steve and Kayla also kept things festive as they decorated the tree and wrapped presents to distract themselves from worrying about their loved ones in Vancouver.
After Brady came home and reunited with Belle (Martha Madison), they each vented about their struggling love lives while Shawn (Brandon Barash) enlisted Justin (Wally Kurth) to help review his divorce papers, then informed him he’s rooting for Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) in the court battle. When Shawn later ran into Jada (Elia Cantu), he apologized for his past mistakes and she surprisingly offered him his old SPD job back, which he accepted.
As for the battle of the Kiriakises, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) met with Philip to discuss his case, where he alost told her about the forged letter, but refrained. He then found out that his lawyer quit on him, forcing him to seek Belle’s help. At the Kiriakis Mansion, Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) showed her support for Xander (Paul Telfer) by helping with his pre-court workout
In the square, Ava had a confrontation with Kristen over Brady that ended with both women slapping each other. When Kristen went home, she began plotting with Stefano’s portrait about how to eliminate Ava as a threat.
