The DiMera Mansion went crazy this week!

As Salem celebrated the start of 2025, a devastating secret destroyed one couple while a switcheroo rocked another.

While Jada (Elia Cantu) revealed her plan to Paulina (Jackée Harry) about swapping EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) for Belle (Martha Madison) as DA, EJ found himself in the middle of Rafe’s (Galen Gering) investigation about Ava’s (Tamara Braun) texts and Lady Whistleblower. Arnold (Galen Gering) eavesdropped from the living room, but when he dropped a glass, EJ managed to dodge Rafe’s questions. When EJ was called into the station by Paulina to inform him he was being replaced as DA, Rafe sneaked back into the mansion and came face to face with Arnold.
Sophia’s (Madelyn Kientz) mother, Amy (Shi Ne Nielson), found AVA in the square and asked her to give her daughter her retainer when she came in for her shift at The Bistro. But when Ava informed her Sophia wasn’t working, it sent Amy on a spiral of suspicion when Ava accidentally revealed that Sophia had still been seeing Tate (Leo Howard).
After Holly (Ashley Puzemis) caught the two about to leave Salem, they had no choice but to admit that they were going to get an abortion. Tate managed to smooth things over with his girlfriend while Sophia ran into her mother and a bout of morning sickness revealed she was pregnant. When Sophia went back to Tate’s, she was joined by her furious mother.
After Sophia dropped the baby bomb on Holly, she went to the Horton House and confided in Doug III about what happened. He lent her a listening ear, then asked her to spend New Year’s at the house with him to take her mind off of it and she agreed. Meanwhile, Tate had the misfortune of meeting Sophia’s mom, who insisted Sophia is keeping the baby and the two will get married to raise it, while Ava broke the news to Brady.
Rafe unknowingly found himself in danger when he came face to face with Arnold. Just as Rafe attempted to call the police, Arnold knocked him out. When EJ came home from being fired as DA, he found Arnold with an unconscious Rafe. Arnold made matters worse by answering Rafe’s phone, pretending to be him, and agreed to meet Jada, forcing EJ to hide Rafe in the tunnels and let Arnold swap places with him.
After Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Johnny (Carson Boatman) decided to throw a last-minute New Year’s Eve party, Chanel invited Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins), while Johnny invited Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and JJ (Casey Moss), and later Rafe and Jada.
Gabi shared with JJ her uncertainty about going due to her history with The DiMeras, while Jada noticed Rafe acting off, especially after agreeing to go to the party. Both women eventually agreed to go with the men as their dates. Stephanie (Abigail Klein) also asked Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) to accompany her to the party, and when they ran into Alex on their way out, he revealed to was off to pick up Joy for the party.
Belle (Martha Madison) arrived at the mansion just as EJ finished hiding Rafe’s body in the tunnels and was about to break the news about her new job when Chanel showed up and informed him about the party. EJ extended an invitation to Belle, telling her he appreciated their friendship.
As the party began, awkwardness lingered amongst the mismatched couples, while Gabi and JJ shared a kiss at midnight and Johnny brought Joy to the bedroom to discuss how to coexist. Joy mentioned what happened between them just as Chanel walked up to the bedroom.
When Chanel overheard Joy talking about what happened between her and Johnny, she barged into the bedroom and demanded Joy tell her what happened. Johnny asked Chanel to talk in private, giving Joy the chance to slip out and ask Alex to take her home. Johnny admitted everything to Chanel and she blasted him for his betrayal and stormed out. As for Joy, she confided in Alex before the two shared a kis and hopped into bed.
As the party ended, Philip went home with Stephanie and she invited him to stay the night, while JJ and Gabi went back to her place.
When Arnold tried going home with Jada, EJ’s attempt at keeping him away from her was blurting out that “Rafe” had just been called on an assignment for Black Patch, forcing Arnold to leave.
Stephanie dreamed about being in bed with Alex before waking up next to Philip, who figured out she had been dreaming about her ex. She assured him they were over and had breakfast together before he asked her on another date. Meanwhile, Alex and Joy woke up in bed together, then when Alex later arrived home, he saw Philip leaving Stephanie’s.
JJ and Gabi also woke up in bed together before they heard a crash downstairs. JJ hurried down with a tennis racket in-hand before realizing it was only Javi (Al Calderon). Javi introduced himself to JJ and joined them for breakfast, intruding on the couple’s morning.
Chanel spent the night at Paulina’s and confided in her mom about what happened, while Johnny explained everything to Abe (James Reynolds). Later, Johnny tried calling Chanel, but got hung up on just before Chanel ran into Joy in the square and confronted her.
