It was an emotional week as Salem said goodbye, and the Days of our Lives recap for the week of December 2-6, 2024 covers everything you might have missed.
Beloved Salemites fled home to say goodbye to Doug (the late Bill Hayes), while the Clyde (James Read) crew arrived in Vancouver to catch the criminal.

Salem buzzed with returns for Doug’s funeral, starting with Liz (Gloria Loring), who visited Marlena (Deidre Hall) while Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) was surprised to find Marie (Maree Cheatham) in the square. Later, the old rivals had a run-in while Belle (Martha Madison) arrived and confided in her mother about her relationship with Shawn (Brandon Beemer).
Meanwhile, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) reunited with Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), while Ciara (Victoria Konefal) and Shawn arrived and gave everyone an update on Bo’s (Peter Reckell) improvement.
As Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) prepared for the funeral, she got a surprise when her brother Steven (Stephen Schnetzer) climbed through her bedroom window and the two remembered Doug.
Ciara miraculously opened the time capsule and they found the Horton Cabin deed, letters between Tom and Alice, and a gorgeous diamond necklace. Later, Julie reunited with everyone and introduced them to Steven.
Once the funeral began, speeches were made, including Julie’s heartbreaking tribute to her late husband. Then Liz sang and everyone joined in.
When they returned to the Horton House after the funeral, they realized the necklace was missing from the time capsule. Julie stayed behind and sat by Doug’s grave, and that was when she ran into Doug Williams III (Peyton Meyer).
While Steven hit it off with Leo (Greg Rikaart) in the square and traded old stories about their pasts with stolen jewels, Ciara, Jennifer, Lucas, and Marie all worried someone stole Alice’s diamond necklace and Lucas realized the time capsule was left with Steven. When Lucas and Ciara found Steven in the square, they confronted him but he assured them he didn’t take the necklace.
Meanwhile, Shawn visited Belle and had a hard conversation that resulted in them deciding to end their marriage.
A shocked Julie met Doug III and learned he’s Doug’s grandson. She invited him to stay at the Horton House, and once he was left alone in the living room, he pulled Alice’s necklace from his pocket.
While Shawn ran into Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) at the pub and supported his attempt to go after Titan, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) got a visit from Xander (Paul Telfer), who asked her to work for him instead of Philip, but she refused.
Doug III ran into Hope (Kristian Alfonso) at the house, who reunited with Julie and revealed Bo (Peter Reckell) still hadn’t woken up. When she wondered who Doug III was, Julie introduced them. When Hope met up with Jennifer at her dad’s grave, she admitted she was suspicious of the new Doug.
Salem had calmed down from the loss of Doug as Lani (Sal Stowers), Chanel (Raven Bowens), and Paulina (Jackée Harry) enjoyed a spa day where they wound up delving into Chanel’s jealous husband and David’s death. Later, Lani went to visit David’s grave with Paulina.
Chad (Billy Flynn) and Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) arrived in Vancouver while JJ (Casey Moss) and Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) checked into the hotel pretending to be Chad and Abigail. JJ and Chad both got calls about Doug’s passing and Gabi comforted JJ.
When EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) told Johnny that he sent Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) away, Johnny ripped into his father for stepping in while Joy said goodbye to Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and told him that EJ pressured her to leave. Despite asking him to stay out of it, Alex later arrived at the DiMera Mansion and confronted Johnny about what EJ did when Chanel (Raven Bowens) walked in on them.
