In the Days of our Lives recap for Wednesday, December 27, 2023, Wendy debates doing her duty or remaining with her love and decides to go with option three.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Ava tells Harris a lie (no surprise there), Rafe and Jada spend the holidays together, and Tate decides to give a (seemingly) contrite Holly a second chance. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Best Of Both Worlds
In Salem Park, Wendy (Victoria Grace) bemoaned her mother’s request that she return to China. Tripp (Lucas Adams) admitted that, selfishly, he wanted his lady love to stay put. Unfortunately, she feels obligated to try to erase her parents’ suffering. But, how can she leave the life she’s made for herself? How can she leave Tripp? Tripp assured Wendy that he’d respect whatever decision she made.
Once Tripp headed off to fetch hot chocolates, Wendy found herself joined on the park bench by Melinda (Tina Huang). The lady lawyer expressed regret for what transpired between her and Li, and, in a rare moment of self-reflection, for how she lived her life.

Oh, how Melinda wished that she’d been less ambitious and more loving and more open to being loved. Wendy opined that love was the most important thing and Melinda agreed. However, she’s not feeling very deserving of love as of late.
Finally warming to Melinda, Wendy took her into her confidence. What should she do? Return to her parents’ side, or remain in Salem with Tripp?
Opposite, Ava (Tamara Braun) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) narrowly avoided Harris’s (Steve Burton) catching them with flour packets full of pills…mostly because the copper got the wrong end of the stick. Quick thinking Ava could but agree with Harris’s assessment. Yes, she’s involved with Stefan. But, don’t call it love. They’re not there yet.
Later, while Harris put Stefan on notice (and pointedly reminded him that he has a wife languishing in Statesville), Ava joined Wendy and Tripp for their Christmas dinner. An announcement was made. No, they’re not getting married, and no Wendy isn’t pregnant. What they are doing is packing up and moving to China!
Making Merry
Over at the Hernandez abode, Rafe (Galen Gering) and Jada (Elia Cantu) awoke and declared a moratorium on devices. It was going to be a screen-free day for them. With nothing much better to do, Jada took in the room, inquired about the antique light fixture, and insisted that she loved the “mishmash” look Mother Hernandez and Gabi created.
A trivia game was played to alleviate Rafe’s depression over his sister’s plight — Christmas-themed, of course — tamales were prepared (or rather reheated), and the two retired back to the bed.
Out With The Old, In With The New
Despite himself, Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) invited a visiting Holly (Ashley Puzemis) in and heard her out. She relayed her drunken escapades the night before and apologized for her earlier treatment of him. She was really, really sorry. And she now knows that things will never work out between her and Johnny (Carson Boatman).
Oh, if only she’d listened to Tate. If only she’d appreciated him, seen what was right in front of her. In short, she was asking for another chance — which Tate was happy to give, alongside the first edition copy of Pride and Prejudice he’d gotten her. The two then made plans for New Year’s Eve dinner at the Bistro.
