On today’s Days of our Lives, Maggie Horton Kiriakis revealed that she was the new top dog at the family company. Nephew Alex was less than impressed.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Rose Deveraux (Cady McClain) bid a final farewell to Salem, and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) opted not to tell Xander (Paul Telfer) that she was with child — his child to be specific. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Maggie Horton Kiriakis Takes Charge And No Prisoners
Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) was incredulous. If not him, then who, pray tell, did Victor install as CEO of Titan? Was it Justin (Wally Kurth)? Nope, he’s actually happy playing lawyer. What about Xander? No, no way Victor would entrust his baby to the likes of that weasel. One or both of the twins? If that’s the case then Alex resigns. There’s no way that he could make that work. No, and no.

Wrong again. Okay…well who does that leave then? Me, quipped Maggie (Suzanne Rogers). Hardy har har, snorted Alex. But seriously, who could Victor have picked? ME, answered Maggie, a might more forcibly.
Huh, answered Alex. And what, exactly, qualifies Maggie to run a multi-national, Fortune 500 company? Well, there were the two successful restaurants that she owned/managed. And she was a ground-floor investor in Countess Willamina cosmetics. And she oversaw the running of a sizeable farm all by her lonesome while handicapped. And boy does she possess some keen instincts.
Impressive, huffed Alex. But does Auntie Meg have killer instincts? Hmmm…how’s this for killer instincts, wondered Maggie before firing Alex on the spot.
PSYCHE! She was only kidding. Alex still has a job. Of course, he does. In fact, Maggie’s hoping against hope that Alex will become her number two, her right hand, her advisor, her consiglieri if you will. Alex is dubious. But he accepts the challenge. Cheers!
DAYS Recap: Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow
With Boston calling, it only remains for Jack to literally hand over the keys to the kingdom. The Spectator is well and truly Gwen’s (Emily O’Brien). She promises to do right by it, and by the ones who came before her…but that’s not to say she and Leo (Greg Rikaart) aren’t going to dust off the paper’s stuffy image. Jack bristles.
Still, he wished his daughter luck and assured her that he loves her before adding that it was just easier to love her from afar. Sniffle.
Opposite this, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) did what she does best: butting into other people’s business. Upon being apprised that Xander and Gwen have blackmailed her kin, Julie made plans to finish what Jennifer accidentally started, but was talked around.
In want of something to do, Julie then set about blaming Jack for the family’s woes. If only he’d kept it in his pants all those years ago, none of this would be happening. A returning Jack couldn’t disagree.
With heavy hearts, Jack and Jennifer said their goodbyes, gathered their luggage, and headed for the door. Before crossing the threshold, they made a promise: they’ll be back, one day soon.
Sarah Horton Hedges
Color Xander all kinds of perplexed. How is it that he and Sarah are still married? After all, the two of them signed their divorce papers weeks ago. What gives?
A ghost of the machine, human error, it’s anybody’s guess, explained Justin. But what it boils down to is that Xander and Sarah need to go through the whole rigamarole yet again. Luckily, he’s got the divorce decree on hand. All he needs are the signatures.
Opposite this, Sarah halts Rex’s (Kyle Lowder) preening with the news that he most definitely is not the father of her baby. It’s Xander’s, cries Rex. Of course, it is, rails Sarah. How many men does Rex think she’s slept with?
But what to do, what to do? Also, why did Rex track her down in the first place? Oh, right, remembered the Brain Trust. He wanted to talk Sarah into accepting an open position at the Chicago-based hospital where he toils.
Hmmm, considered Sarah. The job looks great. The salary is AMAZING. What’s not to love? Oh, right, the “being pregnant by Xander” of it all. Speaking of Xander, enter the man himself. Would Sarah mind speaking with him…in private? No problem.
Now, what does Xander want? A do-over, he shakily requested. Huh, wondered Sarah. After being filled in about the divorce SNAFU, Sarah ponders her options and decides to both go through with signing the papers and leaving for Chicago — and all the while keeping mum about her condition.
DOOL Recap: That Guilty Feeling
Gwen felt bad, real bad, and nothing Leo said made her feel any better. She’s sick over what she’s done to her father, and she’s sick of being in love with a man who can’t or won’t commit to her, and Justin’s subsequent stop and explanation that Xander and Sarah are still legally man and wife doesn’t help matters in the slightest.
But then, hope sprung. Xander explained to her and Leo that he’d just come from seeing Sarah and they’d both added their signatures to the divorce document. Barring another unforeseen act of G-d, he’ll be a free man in the near future. Yay for Gwen.
