On today’s Days of our Lives, Jake DiMera stuns the Heavenly trio with the news that they’re not technically dead yet — a fact that Nick Fallon was hoping to ignore.
In addition, Anna’s (Leann Hunley) hemming and hawing failed her, Allie (Lindsay Arnold) bid Chanel (Raven Bowens) adieu, and Orpheus (George DelHoyo) hinted at who the true Big Bad really was. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Kate (Lauren Koslow), Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), and Marlena (Deidre Hall) weren’t going to go down — to the Bad Place — without a fight.

With Mrs. Roman Brady leading the charge, the women armed themselves with shards of a shattered vase — it was 6th century B.C., and Satan is going to mad that it was broken — and readied to strike. Nick (Blake Berris) responded by blinking their weapons away — JERK! — and forcibly moved the trio towards the door to Hell.
Enter Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) — yes, the same Jake DiMera who cheated on Kate with Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) — to put a stop to his counterpoint’s shenanigans. Marlena and Kayla were most grateful for his intervention. Kate, not so much.
On top of ceasing the femmes’ casting into eternal hellfire, Jake revealed that none of them were actually, you know, dead. *GASP*
And sure, Marlena and Kayla had supposedly been buried earlier that morning, and Kate’s corpse had presumably been reduced to ashes before that, but it was ruses. Ruses, Jake says! They’re actually alive and conditionally well and mean ole Nick had plucked their souls from their bodies prematurely because, you know, he’s mean.
But if Marlena, Kayla, and Kate aren’t really dead…then where are they? Their bodies, that is. Cut to: interior, spooky lab clearly drawing inspiration from an old Hammer Horror film. In the middle of the room, were three cryogenic pods. Marlena, Kayla, and Kate are on ice…literally!
Much to Anna’s chagrin, Kate’s urn — well, not really Kate’s, but…semantics — was fresh out of advice. That or the dead woman is no longer in a chatty mood. No matter, Anna could do all the talking for the both of them.
Unfortunately, Anna’s one-sided conversation, during which she mentions how fervently she hopes Roman (Josh Taylor) reaches Statesville, “in time,” is overheard by a concerned Paulina (Jackée Harry). Why, exactly, is Roman racing to the local prison? Also, is Kate answering Anna back?
What to do, what to do, Anna wondered. Dither! Dither, dither, dither. Drats! Paulina called her on it. Okay, okay, truth-ish time. Anna allowed that Roman was on his way to see Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) — so far, so not a lie — on Kate’s orders — still speaking truth — to make sure that stays very much on the wagon — LIE!
Paulina understood. And she wasn’t even in the least bit weirded out by the ‘Kate told Roman to do it’ of it all. She knows that a mother’s work is never done, and she suspects that’s true even in death.
Though she’s finished with Allie and sure that they shouldn’t work together anymore, Chanel couldn’t help but bemoan her ex’s plan to put 8,000 miles between them. It wasn’t like she planned to completely write Allie off. Oh, how sad she’ll be when Allie’s gone.
The former togethers remembered fond days and nights gone by, like how they’d begin a London evening with drinks at The Little Scarlet Door and end the revelry the next morning with bangers and mash and sticky toffee pudding at The Red Lion and parted on good terms.
While Steve (Stephen Nichols) was inclined to just kill Orpheus and get it over with, John (Drake Hogestyn) was far more interested in hearing what their foe had to say. After all, he was promising to reveal who it was that absconded with the orchid that would have healed their ailing loved ones. And isn’t that the person that Steve and John should be mad at?
Steve didn’t think so. He wanted revenge, and getting it on Orpheus was good enough. Complicating matters was Roman’s arrival and his insistence that he’d been contacted by Kate and warned against doling out vigilante justice.
After wriggling out of his predicament, Orpheus magnanimously offered the men a clue as to who it is they should be looking for: it’s a DiMera!
Elsewhere, the Brady Pub, to be exact, Lucas reached out to Anna and assured her that all was well. Oh, thank goodness, she’d really, really been hoping that Roman would halt Orpheus’s execution in time. Eavesdropper extraordinaire and bad man-killer Paulina didn’t take the same view.
