On today’s Days of our Lives, Jada Hunter had the dubious displeasure of informing Rafe that all is not as it seems where Talia’s story is concerned.
In addition, Stefan (Brandon Barash) and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) jockeyed for power and Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) bemoaned being persona non grata — barring Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) interest, of course. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Things were not boding well for Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Sweet Bits. It was halfway through the morning rush, and not one treat had been scooped up. Heck, she and Talia (Aketra Sevillian) couldn’t even give the pastries they prepared away. Nobody was biting. Not even Old Mrs. Weaver who was always there bright and early.
After grousing that she won’t be able to continue on like this for much longer, Chanel offered to have a word with Tripp (Lucas Adams) on Talia’s behalf in the hopes that he could find her employment at University Hospital. She is a qualified M.D., after all.

Talia, however, wouldn’t hear of it. She’s sticking it out for the long haul. She’s a baker now, through and through. She’s even ready, willing, and able to toil for free — that’s how much she believes in the business and Chanel. “Working here, with you, it just seems right.” [Or so she says; her actions do speak louder than words.]
When Paulina (Jackée Harry) happened by, even she hesitated at taking a free sample. But only for a moment. In no time flat, she was soon standing with the girls doing her utmost to draw in the crowds. Her efforts were ultimately futile.
Opposite this, Abe (James Reynolds) tore into the police station and tore into Rafe (Galen Gering) and Jada (Elia Cantu). “Why the Hell is Sloan Petersen still walking the streets?!” he bellowed.
After explaining that they’d been unable to find any definitive evidence — little things like fingerprints, shoeprints, her image on security camera footage — the cops wondered if perhaps Abe was a mite too close to the case. Could his relationship with Paulina and Chanel be clouding his judgment?
Possibly, possibly. And it certainly is personal to Abe. “I love my family, and I love this town, and right now, both are under attack.”
Off that, Rafe and Jada set about calling Chanel and Talia in, splitting them up, and each taking a statement. Rafe spoke with Talia and Jada with Chanel. Afterward, the two compared notes.
At first, nothing seemed particularly amiss, but after Jada had a good long think, she suddenly realized, “what Talia told you isn’t true.”
Speaking of Talia, once Chanel gave her the day off, she made a beeline for the locale roach motel and met up with a mystery man who was very happy to see her. The way he had her up against the wall and kissed her, it’s a safe bet they are rather close.
Meanwhile, Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) took advantage of the opportunity provided her to put the screws to Sloan, whom she was sure was the one responsible for the town-wide poisoning.
Sloan insisted that the D.A.’s implications-cum-threats were “unseemly, unethical, and despicable,” and Melinda countered that a defense relying on a “frame job” was “patently ridiculous.”
Eric thought he could rescue Sloan from the fire by providing her with an alibi for the night that the biscuits were tainted, but Melinda pointed out that he was already a proven liar and the priest shtick would not get him far.
Once Melinda took her leave, Sloan confided in Eric that she was terrified — terrified “that they’re coming for me and that they’re not going to miss.”
But who is the “they.” It’s surely not Chanel and/or Paulina because neither would risk Chanel’s livelihood, pondered Sloan. Better question: who’s the intended target? Chanel or Sloan herself?
The cold war between Stefan and EJ is slowly but surely heating up. The first decided victory went to Stefan, who pointedly pointed out that blustery EJ wouldn’t be able to evict either him or Gabi (Camila Banus) from the manse, given that his name is on the deed.
Stefan fired the next volley with the announcement that Gabi was coming aboard DiMera Enterprises as a consultant — and as such, he didn’t need EJ’s approval of the hire.
EJ, in turn, hired Nicole as his own personal consultant. Game. Set. Match. To quote EJ, “Looks like it’s going to be one big happy family at corporate headquarters…from now on.” [As if!]
