In the Days of our Lives recap for Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Ava dumps Harris…for his own good. It’s the best thing she’s done since ridding the world of Gil.
In addition, Stefan piqued Chad’s interest (ire?), Everett and Stephanie cleared things up between them, and Abe showed up for Paulina in a big way. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Stefan (Brandon Barash) began his no-good, very bad day by learning that Gabi (Camila Banus) had broken her leg in a mighty suspicious slip and fall. The DiMera scion raced over to The Bistro and bellowed to Ava (Tamara Braun) that they had to ramp up their plan to get rid of big, bad Clyde Weston (James Read).
Harris (Steve Burton) swung by, interrupted the two, and attempted to assuage his guilty conscience by admitting to kissing Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) during a drunken stupor. Luckily it hadn’t gone any farther. And, it didn’t mean anything. Not then, not ever. Can Ava ever forgive him? No, no she can’t.

The kiss may have been nothing to Harris, but it was something to her. Namely, a deal breaker. Except that it really wasn’t. In reality, Ava had appreciated Harris’s honesty, and, if the circumstances were different, she’d have forgiven him. But, she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dispense with him and get him out of Clyde’s crosshairs.
Opposite, Stefan attempted to drown his sorrows at the Brady Pub and wound up sharing a bit too much information with Chad (Billy Flynn). The younger brother demanded to know what exactly Clyde had to do with Gabi’s broken leg, but Stefan did a runner rather than answer the question. Chad wound up pouring his heart out to the Horton plaque and vowing to avenge his wife’s death.
Meanwhile, after a most awkward run-in with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), Chad, and Everett (Blake Berris), Stephanie took off with Everett in hot pursuit. Alex and Chad agreed that there was something weird about Mr. Lynch. Really weird. (Read more about Everett’s past here.)
Once he caught up with her, Everett asked Stephanie to tell him what was going on. So she did. Every gory detail about her and Chad’s breakup. What’s more, she needs to take a break from relationships. But not a long break. She’s still got designs on becoming a wife and mother. And a young mother at that. Like her own.
Everett, for his part, wondered if he could still be Stephanie’s bestie, her shoulder to cry on. She happily agreed. Both were glad to be on the same page.
Across town, an ailing Paulina (Jackée Harry) was thrilled when Abe (James Reynolds) came calling. Just the man she needed to see. Would he mind helping her write her mayor’s speech? Not at all. In no time flat the sorta-couple penned a most lovely missive to the masses — which the mayor was prompted to read aloud in preparation for the big day.
Elsewhere, the evidence that Theresa (Emily O’Brien) was up to something continued to mount, at least as far as Brady (Eric Martsolf) was concerned…which is why he tasked Alex with keeping a close eye on his new squeeze. As for Theresa herself, she received a phone call from big brother Andrew (Colton Little) and made plans to meet with him later in the day.
