On today’s Days of our Lives, Doug and Julie Williams, of the sage wisdom, assure Chad that he’s on the right path.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition to Doug and Julie’s words of comfort, Nick Fallon (Blake Berris) was revealed to be the shady operator manipulating Marlena (Deidre Hall), Kayla, and Kate, while John (Drake Hogestyn), Roman, and Steve (Stephen Nichols) decided that Lucas would make a great patsy. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Doug and Julie Williams Are Sure That They’re Sure

When Chad (Billy Flynn) came upon Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), he couldn’t help but worry, given that the latter was racked with sobs. Luckily, there’s no new crisis on the horizon. Instead, Julie had simply overwhelmed herself looking through photo albums.

So many memories. So much loss. Lost loved ones — like Marlena — lost relatives who were loved whether they deserved to be or not — like despicable Nick. So much loss.

But enough about the past. Doug and Julie — especially Julie — want to discuss the here and now…especially as it pertains to Chad’s interest in Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein). Jack (Matthew Ashford) has been keeping them apprised, you see, and the couple couldn’t be more thrilled for Chad.

And sure, they know how much Chad loved Abigail (Marci Miller), but they also know that she’d want him to move on and find love again elsewhere. And Stephanie’s swell. Abigail would more than approve. Chad agrees.

But just to be sure, Chad takes a private moment to speak to his late beloved and explain just how happy Stephanie makes him and how, because of Stephanie, he’s beginning to look forward to living life again. Of course, he’ll always miss Abby. She’s irreplaceable.

DOOL Recap: Aggrieved Parties

Much to Marlena, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), and Kate’s (Lauren Koslow) chagrin, they learn that there never was a Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk), or an Adrienne (Judi Evans), or a Jordan (Chrishell Strause) — it was all Nick Fallon, emissary of Satan, in disguise.

Nick Fallon reveals his deal with Kayla, Marlena, and Kate.

Even more galling is the explanation that Nick tricked them into signing their souls over to the man downstairs. Say what?! Surely that can’t be legally binding. Not when they were so blatantly manipulated. And besides, what is Lucifer offering in return for his bounty? If there’s one thing that literature, cinema, and the small screen have taught the ladies, it’s that there is supposed to be some quid for their quo.

Of course, declares Nick, who proceeds to hand them each a crisp 2-dollar bill. A 2-dollar bill that was first issued by the U.S. Mint in 1862. It’s not really worth much. More of an obsolete curiosity — much like a soul — than valid currency.

The trio is not content. Far from it, in fact. In their most haughty Karen voices, they demand to speak to Nick’s manager On. The. Double! That’s right, they want a face-to-face-to-face-to-face with the Prince of Darkness himself. And they’re not moving until they get it.

Alex Kiriakis And Stephanie Johnson Part As Friends – Maybe

Though she wasn’t expecting to run into Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) at the office, Stephanie wasn’t exactly displeased when it happened. If anything, it allowed the two of them to clear the air between them.

First, Alex is dreadfully sorry about the role he played in keeping Stephanie from bidding Kayla a final adieu. Second, he’s painfully aware of the fact that she had moved on with Chad.

Stephanie thanks Alex for his past apologies and his sincerity, and she genuinely expresses the hope that they might move forward as good friends. Not from today, obviously, but in the near future. Alex seems…hopeful.

Days of our Lives Recap: A Bird In The Hand

Now that they’ve all agreed that the only good Orpheus (George DelHoyo) is a dead Orpheus, John, Roman (Josh Taylor), and Steve debate how to best accomplish their goal.

Steve supposes that he could get himself thrown into prison and commit the foul deed himself, but his comrades point out that a) he’d have to pull off one heck of a crime to get incarcerated in the first place and b) then he’d be stuck in Statesville for the duration of his sentence. Nope. Too risky.

For a brief moment, the men consider bringing Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) into their inner circle but agree that she’d probably object to out-and-out murder.

Suddenly, a lightbulb goes off. They can conscript Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) to their cause! He hates Orpheus for what he did to Kate, and he’s in the best position to strike, considering he’s already an inmate at the facility. But would he balk at killing?

The short answer: probably not. If anything, Lucas would probably relish the opportunity to off the man who’s apparently made it his life’s mission to knock Lucas off the wagon.
