In the Days of our Lives recap for October 16, 2023, Xander and Sarah come to a pleasing agreement for all of five seconds before cold, harsh reality sets in.
In addition, Stephanie voices fear that she’ll never manage to best a dead woman, Lucas and Clyde face-off in prison, and Mama Bear Ava is put on high alert. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
If there was one thing that Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) could agree on, it was that Sarah has been terribly unfair. She knows that she was wrong. She knows that she shouldn’t have kept him in the dark where Victoria Margaret’s paternity was concerned. However, Sarah insisted that Xander understand that she felt completely justified at the time.
What’s more, she feels absolutely terrible. Walking away from him was the hardest thing that she’s ever done. But learning that Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) is still alive changes things for her. She now wants Xander to be a part of his daughter’s life.

No sooner had phrases like “let’s work out a shared custody arrangement” been uttered than Sarah received a most telling phone call from Justin (Wally Kurth). How dare Xander! What on Earth was he thinking? Going after full custody of Victoria Margaret?! And he plans to paint Sarah as an unfit mother, to boot. Well, if he thought her unreasonable before, just wait. Now he has a fight on his hands. And it’s a fight that Sarah intends to win.
When Chad (Billy Flynn) reacted to her smooch as though she’d slapped him across the face, Stephanie (Abigail Klien) asked him what was wrong. Chad’s response? A fine cliché. It’s not you, it’s me. Actually, it was Abigail’s birthday, and Chad, understandably, was feeling a certain type of way. Mostly because he hadn’t killed SOB Clyde Weston (James Read) when he had the chance.
At University Hospital, Tripp (Lucas Adams) found himself at the mercy of a patient who seemed to mistake him for a pincushion. After his bloody arm was patched up by Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), the good doctor was sent home…where he found Ava (Tamara Braun) and Harris (Steve Burton) embracing.
Mother tried to explain to son exactly what transpired — and that was that she and Harris had, despite rather enjoying a passionate clinch, decided to put romance on hold until they’d both put their lives back on track — but all Tripp could see was the electricity between the pair.
Ava’s eyes, on the other hand, were drawn to Tripp’s injury. What happened? Who did this to him? How will they be punished? Tripp waved the injury off and assured that all was well. Later, Ava took a phone call from Clyde who informed her that what happened to Tripp was no accident.
Having tangled with Clyde, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) phoned Chad to see how he was coping. The answer? Not too well. Opposite this, Stephanie (who’d volunteered to accompany Chad to Abigial’s grave only to be shot down) turned to Kayla for comfort.
Dr. Brady prescribed patience. Stephanie, meanwhile, voiced concern that she’d never measure up to Abigail whom she knew was the love of Chad’s life.
