In the Days of our Lives recap for October 12, 2023, Belle’s attempt to make up with Shawn hits a major snag.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Chloe and Philip say their goodbyes, Justin and Alex finally get on the same page. Also, Maggie gets a small glimpse into Victor’s past. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Love And Marriage

As far as Belle (Martha Madison) was concerned, Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) had some explaining to do — so he did. It’s not so much he and Chloe (Nada Bjorlin) are leaving town together as it is the two of them leaving simultaneously. Oh, and traveling to the same city.

Philip also revealed that, despite him still having feelings for Chloe and her admitting she still has feelings for him, he doesn’t want to get ahead of himself. This is really about the two of them getting a fresh start.

Philip’s next crack — the one about Belle and Shawn being free to visit anytime — necessitated Belle confessing that all was not well between her and her husband. In fact, she’s not entirely sure where things stand between them — especially in light of his infidelity.

That was all news to Philip, who wondered if the couple would try and work things out. Unfortunately, Belle was just as in the dark as he was. Could this all be karma coming back to bite her? Is she finally being given a taste of her own medicine? Philip didn’t think so. And as for his best advice? “Go and talk to him.”

Belle went to Shawn, and. she him deep in conversation with Talia (Aketra Sevillian).

Talia apologized to Belle yet again and then took her leave. Belle told Shawn that she’s been hurting. She hated him for what he did. However, she wanted to put all that behind them so they could work on saving their marriage.

Shawn was heartened to hear that his wife was ready, willing, and able to put in the time. He’s not going to be around to do that, though. Instead, he’ll be near the hospital treating his dad so he can work on his issues at a nearby outpatient facility. What’s more, he needs to do all this without Belle. He needs to be focused on trying to save himself rather than saving his marriage. Belle was upset and debated the issue before finally agreeing to the separation. Maybe this is exactly what they need to heal.

DAYS Recap: Ex-Factor

When pressed by Brady (Eric Martsolf), Chloe had to admit that her breakup with Xander (Paul Telfer) is partially responsible for her move back to New York. But while Brady was prepared to hear that, he didn’t expect that Chloe would also reveal that Philip would be joining her.

Is she giving her ex another chance? Maybe. Anything can happen. He still loves her. Plus, she still has unresolved feelings for him. She was his, and he doesn’t think he’ll ever get over her.

After taking her leave of Brady (but only after they agreed they’d forever be in each other’s hearts), Chloe headed to the Brady Pub, where Philip and Kate (Lauren Koslow) were deep in conversation. Despite her best efforts, Kate couldn’t convince her son to stay put in Salem. Instead, she settled for putting Chloe on notice. It went better than Chloe expected.

DOOL Recap: The Ties That Bind

Much to Justin’s (Wally Kurth) delight, he and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) reaffirmed their family bonds. DNA really doesn’t matter! Justin was glad to see that, despite Alex assuming the top spot at Titan, he wasn’t turning into a power-mad, gold-crazed Scrooge McDuck type. Unfortunately for Alex, that opinion wasn’t shared by Brady.

After Brady laid into him for up and quitting his job at Basic Black, Alex attempted to put the wrong to right…but Brady wasn’t interested in considering Alex’s proposal that Basic Black sign an exclusivity deal with Titan.

Meanwhile, Victor’s old pal, Konstantin Meleounis (John Kapelos), visited Maggie. The Greek expressed his sincere condolences for Maggie’s loss and gave her a family album full of pictures of young Victor. As thanks (and perhaps to make up for the terrible joke about not accepting gifts from Greeks), Maggie insisted on hosting Konstantin for the remainder of his stay in Salem.
