In the Days of our Lives recap for October 13, 2023, Sarah ended things with Rex and seriously considered her next move.
In addition, Kate gave Harris food for thought, Tripp tried to parent his mother, and EJ pondered the big question. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Sleep-deprived Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) was genuinely convinced that she was hallucinating images of Susan (Stacy Haiduk) only to learn from EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) that his mother really was alive and well and enjoying the lovely morning. Oh, and passing out lollipops. Suddenly Susan is as obsessed as Kojak.
After taking a minute to get her head on straight, Sarah realized she’d been so angry at Xander (Paul Telfer) for no reason. Susan opinioned that that must change everything while EJ huffed that Xander was still, if nothing else, a kidnapper. That surely counts against him.

Sarah, still in a partial daze, headed back to the Kiriakis abode where she overhead Kate (Lauren Koslow) imploring Rex (Kyle Lowder) to face facts. Sarah isn’t in love with him. She will never be in love with him. And if he’s smart (which the jury is still out on that one), he’d take her up on the out she offered him. Get that divorce!
Once Rex and Sarah were alone, they talked about Susan being alive and how that strengthened Xander’s bid for custody. Unfortunately, that hadn’t changed Sarah’s mind. She still wanted a divorce.
Rex admitted defeat and took his leave — but not before imploring Sarah not to get taken in by her ex (AGAIN!) and agreeing with her that they’d always be “BEST best friends.”
When Xander swung by and demanded access to his daughter, Sarah filled him in on her pending divorce. Also, she laid the blame for it squarely on him. And though she claimed it had nothing to do with lingering feelings for him, her eyes said differently.
Off her *ahem* chat with Rex and Sarah, Kate returned to the Brady Pub. There she found Harris (Steve Burton) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) conversing and learned that Harris was in need of a job. Kate’s suggestion? He should join the Salem Police Department. After all, he could teach those incompetents something. She’d be willing to put in a good word for him with Jada (Elia Cantu), the only decent copper on the force. Harris agreed to think it over. Not that he thought he had a shot at getting hired.
Having eavesdropped on his mother’s phone call with Harris — in which she termed him her own personal hero — Tripp (Lucas Adams) urged Ava (Tamara Braun) to be cautious. She’s only just out of Bayview and free and clear of murder charges. Also, Harris isn’t exactly the most reliable of guys. Tripp similarly put Harris on blast when he swung by to visit Ava — not that he and Ava cared much. In fact, the two shared their first kiss.
Though he really should have seen it coming, EJ couldn’t help but blanch over Susan’s announcement that she would soon be heading back to Memphis. Equally galling EJ was Susan making him swear — on her own life no less — that he wouldn’t “hurt a single hair” on either Xander or Ava’s heads.
As would be expected, mother and son eventually steered their conversation towards the identity of her abductor. Who could it be? And what is their agenda?
Meanwhile, during their strategy session, Xander informed Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) that Sarah had once kept a child away from Eric, filling the lady lawyer to the brim with guilt. Not enough to cause her to come clean about the lie she’s perpetrating, but guilty nonetheless.
