In the Days of our Lives recap for October 2, 2023, Marlena and Belle both become privy to Shawn’s extramarital affair.
In addition, Jada throws her all behind her partner, Stefan covers for his mommy dearest, and Gwen delights in rubbing Leo’s nose in her triumph. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
After learning from best friend Kate (Lauren Koslow) at the pub that Vivian (Louise Sorel), AKA “that succubus,” is entitled to NOTHING that was once Victor’s and Maggie (who long-time fans of DAYS will tell you is actually Marlena’s best friend) gets half of everything, Marlena (Deidre Hall) welcomed Talia (Aketra Sevillian) into her office.
After some pleasantries, Talia got to the point. It’s time for her to find a new therapist. Marlena wondered why she desired a change. Was she unhappy with their sessions? Was she uncomfortable considering their status as colleagues?

Talia went with the latter, and Marlena revealed that she has plenty of patients who are actually members of the hospital staff. What’s more, Talia only has a couple of sessions left until court-mandated therapy ends, and Marlena isn’t sure what might happen if she switches therapists.
With her freedom on the line, Talia decided to keep the status quo and sit down for a one-on-one. In the spirit of honesty, Talia copped to a late-night party for two at the Brady Pub that ended with her making a really stupid, self-destructive decision, namely sleeping with a married man.
Before Talia could say much more, Belle (Martha Madison) inadvertently brought the session to a screeching halt. Once Talia took her leave — a doctor’s work is never done in spite of the fact that they are supposed to be off the clock — Belle took her place.
Ever the active listener, Marlena was dumbfounded (not that she let it show — much) to hear Belle relay how Shawn (Brandon Beemer) had spent the other night whooping it up at the Brady Pub before crashing in Jada’s (Elia Cantu) room above the bar.
Later, when Talia returned to finish their discussion, Marlena flat-out asked her if Shawn was the man she slept with. Probably not ethical, but good and soapy nonetheless.
Meanwhile, at the local cop shop, Jada took Shawn to task for sleeping with her sister. Shawn, for his part, took responsibility for his error, and Jada, for her part, admitted that Talia wasn’t blameless in the situation. All that granted, Shawn wanted to know that his partner had his back and that she wouldn’t rat him out.
One head-scratching case (see below) — and a whole lot of time to ponder Shawn’s request — later, and Jada agreed to keep his secret. No one will find out from her that he bedded Talia. Unfortunately for the not-so-dynamic duo, Belle was standing outside the door and overheard them.
Over at the DiMera mansion, in an echo (carbon copy?) of Vivian’s first appearance, the gun-totting villainess stepped over the prone body of her victim and explained to Gabi (Camila Banus) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) that she preferred to shoot first and ask questions later.
The trio soon set about debating what to do about Dimitri (Peter Porte). Gabi and Vivian voted to leave him down on the ground like a dirty dog, while Stefan refused to entertain the notion…unless Dimitri didn’t sign over his and Megan’s shares in DiMera. With that deed done, Stefan phoned an ambulance.
Further debate ensued, this time surrounding what they should tell the police. Gabi was all for sticking to the truth, but Vivian pointed out that, as a probationer, she’d lost her Second Amendment rights. And besides, she’d gone out of her way to protect them. It was time for them to return the favor. And return the favor they did.
When Jada and Shawn came a-calling, Stefan spun a story about overhearing a gunshot and coming in to find Dimitri on the floor.
With nothing much to lose, Leo (Greg Rikaart) confessed to Gwen (Emily O’Brien) that he was indeed sleeping with her husband. And though he was DEVASTATED by the thought of losing their friendship, he was not sorry because he and Dimitri were in love.
Gwen laughed that declaration off and delighted in revealing that she’d withdrawn the first installment from the Von Leuschner trust and planned to serve Dimitri with divorce papers. No more money for the lovebirds.
Gwen also took it upon herself to share how Kristen had floated the idea of killing Dimitri, but she’d talked her out of it. No sooner had those words escaped her lips than word reached Leo that Dimitri had been shot. At the hospital, Gwen swore that neither she nor Kristen had anything to do with what happened, but Leo refused to believe a word of that.
