We’ve heard of dirty politics, but this is a step too far!

The DAYS recap for Tuesday, November 8, 2022, sees several celebratory moods severely dampened by inconvenient truths.

DAYS Recap Highlights

In this episode, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina Price Carver (Jackée Harry) emerge victorious in the polls, and while he abdicates, she basks in her glory…until her baby girl is charged with murder! Elsewhere, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) gets honest with a lovestruck Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein), Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and a salesclerk fail to see eye-to-eye, and Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) takes a suddenly flush Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) up on his offer of a free meal. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: What Fresh Hell Is This?

It’s official: Abe has won his bid for mayor, and Paulina clinched the governorship. But while there should be much rejoicing, there is instead an encroaching sense of dread owing to Chanel Dupree’s (Raven Bowens) out-of-the-blue and very public arrest.

The fracas came about courtesy of a revenge-minded Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) with an unintentional assist from Paulina’s assistant Leo who inadvertently cleared the way for his former lawyer to steal back the blackmail material she’d been lording over Paulina and Chanel’s heads.

DOOL Recap: Love Connection

To be clear, Chad likes Stephanie, really, he does. But he doesn’t “like” like her. Not yet, anyway — and there’s no way to tell if he ever will. He’s still mourning the untimely passing of his beloved wife, and he can’t imagine moving on with anybody, even if he thinks his friend-cum-employer is pretty swell.

But that’s not to say that he approves of the complete 180 Stephanie is doing where Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) is concerned. Sure, Alex might have come through when Stephanie needed him the most, but he’s still Alex. Why would Stephanie ever give the cad the time of day, let alone accompany him to a late dinner? To say that Chad is put out would be an understatement.

DAYS Recap: Leopard, Spots, Yada Yada

Speaking of strange bedfellows — and by that, we most assuredly do not mean fellows sharing the same bed…not yet anyway — against his better judgment, Sonny is starting to come around to the idea that Leo isn’t as bad as he first thought.

Sure, the little weasel stitched him up on a sexual harassment charge and blackmailed him into marriage and not so long ago sold photos of them in bed together with the claim that they’d shared a night of unbridled passion — despite the fact that Sonny is a happy-ish married man — but he does seem to have turned over a new leaf. Plus, he’s got some cash to burn and a desire not to eat alone, so how could Sonny say no to the dinner invitation?

Days of our Lives Recap: The Past Is Prologue

Way back in November of 1965 — November 8, 1965, to be precise — Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) — or Julie Olson as she was then — was a juvenile delinquent with a penchant for telling falsehoods and pilfering just for the attention that it would bring. Fifty-seven years later, much has changed, and nothing has changed.

As in the DAYS pilot episode, Julie was accused of shoplifting a mink stole, but this time it was an honest mistake — she thought the accessory was going to be Doug Williams’s (Bill Hayes) treat, he thought she was going to splurge on herself. Once the confusion was cleared up, and the department store paid, the couple retired to the Horton abode, where Julie fussed over the pictures adorning the mantlepiece — shades of France Reid’s first act as Alice Horton — and Doug delighted her with a dessert in honor of the anniversary of her, “life of crime.”
