The DAYS recap for Monday, November 14, 2022, sees the death of ‘Nafe’ but will ‘Ericole’ long live? Unlikely, considering one-half of that couple is about to be a parent to someone else’s baby…maybe. It’s a soap. Things are complicated.
In this episode, Nicole Walker Hernandez (Arianne Zucker) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) parted ways, and Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) pointedly pointed out to Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) that she wasn’t particularly enamored of the idea of raising a child with a man in love with someone else. Elsewhere, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) got Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) number, Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) put her foot down, and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) feared that he’d overplayed his hand with Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun). Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Despite her initial protests to the contrary, Nicole finally found herself forced to confess that yes, she had only married Rafe in order to convince herself that she was over Eric…and yes, Eric is indeed the real love of her life…and yes, she wants to be with him and only him. But if it makes Rafe feel any better, Nicole did love him too — just not as much. It doesn’t.
Surprise, surprise — to the characters, who always used protection, anyway; the audience saw this coming a mile away — Jada is pregnant, and Eric is the father. To parrot Sarah Horton Cook’s (Linsey Godfrey) question and make it a fact, “This is a complication.”

Not only is Jada not 100% sure that she even wants to keep the baby, but she’s also still pretty sore at Eric for macking on Nicole when they’re the ones who are supposed to be the couple — did that slip Eric’s mind?
Game recognizes game, so when Xander saddled up next to Gwen and fed her the same line of bull about him toiling for a pharmaceutical startup, Gwen checked out his story, poked all kinds of holes into it, and managed to elicit the truth from him — which is more than his wife has been able to do.
Though tickled by the predicament that Xander had tangled himself up in, Gwen steadfastly refused to rat him out to Sarah when the opportunity presented itself…though she did delight in putting the fear of G-d into her ex by making out like that’s exactly what she intended to do.
Upon being apprised of her beloved stepson’s kidnapping, Kayla decided the most prudent course of action would be to kill EJ with her bare hands. After being calmed by Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), the man with a plan, Kayla informed him that she’d be joining the rescue effort. Steve balked; Kayla insisted; Kayla won out. Now, what to tell their kids should they wonder where they’re going? Nothing? Perfect! Lying to Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Joey (Tanner Stine) has worked out so well for them in the past.
With Steve very much on the case, Ava sauntered over to the DiMera abode and put EJ on blast — how stupid of him to counter her kidnapping of his mother with the kidnapping of her son. Maybe she’ll just have to hurt Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) in order to teach EJ a lesson!
EJ heard Ava out, internalized it, then lunged at her, his hands grasping her throat. Thank goodness Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) was on hand to keep things from escalating any further.
