The DAYS recap for Wednesday, December 21, 2022, features a Christmas Eve miracle for the extended/blended Carver/Price/Dupree family.
In this episode, good — represented by Paulina Price Carver (Jackée Harry) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) — triumphed over the evil that is Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) and Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty). Elsewhere, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) schemed and sexed up the screen, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) manipulated wee Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater) after failing to get Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) to once again fall for her mistletoe attempts, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole Walker Soon-To-No-Longer-Be-Hernandez (Arianne Zucker) took stock, and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) hit upon a nifty idea to get one over on his brother’s stalker. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
At first, it looked like Paulina would face a Dickensian Christmas — all alone, and in a jail cell to boot — and all because of that spiteful Melinda. But after doing something really rather selfless — officially resigning as Governor of whatever state Salem is set in — most welcome news came from the heavens…well, it came from Belle Black Brady’s (Martha Madison) mouth through the speaker on Abe Carver’s (James Reynolds) phone, but the comparison is still apt.

Thanks to Belle’s utter brilliance, she managed to pick apart opposing counsel’s entire case and convinced the London authorities that it wouldn’t behoove them in the slightest to extradite and prosecute either Paulina or Chanel. Ladies, you’re free! Free and clear!
Rather than indulge in their strawberries and cream, John and Marlena set about achieving their new life’s goal: extricating Kristen from their house and from Brady’s orbit. But how to best go about that?
John really doesn’t relish the idea of cozying back up to Kristen and willing her to confess to whatever nefarious plan she’s cooked up, but that seems their best bet. Okay, he’ll do it. But only for Doc and Brady’s sake. In the meantime, and as a reward for his sacrifice, cue romance!
To recap, the one thing that Rachel really wants for Christmas is for her mommy and daddy to get married and love each other forever and always — that’s a tall order for Brady, who can’t stand the sight of his ex. Still, Kristen thinks it’s a good idea for Rachel to go on wanting.
EJ and Nicole are down, but they’re certainly not out. There also going to remain housemates in spite of the nasty voicemail that Aunt Sister Mary Moria (Stacy Haiduk) left EJ, blaming his inviting “that bombastic, blonde bimbo,” that “fornicating harlot,” into his house and to Susan Banks’s (Stacy Haiduk) memorial service for all the recent upheaval. At least the two shared a good laugh while listening to it.
Despite seeming to inch ever closer to what some might confuse for a relationship, Eric and Sloan maintain that they still want to keep things between them uncomplicated. Well, they say that, and then Eric turns right around and invites Sloan to *gasp* spend the holidays with him and his family! No thanks, replies Sloan…but she’d love to ring in the New Year with her not boyfriend.
Off that convo, the two part company. Sloan heads over to excoriate Paulina and Chanel, while Eric makes tracks for Brady and attempts to interest him in a caper that would see them fake Rachel’s kidnapping in an effort to force Kristen into turning over that much prized, lifesaving orchid. Will Brady bite?
