DAYS Recap for December 16: Ava And Her Deadly Bomb Run Out Of Time

The DAYS recap for Friday, December 16, 2022, sees a best-laid plan to assassinate rivals going to pot — funny that.

DAYS Recap Highlights

In this episode, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) is caught out in more ways the one. Elsewhere, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) stepped up his efforts to manipulate Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) came thisclose to admitting his reasons for sheltering Kristen, and a puffed-up Stefan O. DiMera (Brandon Barash) nearly got his block knocked off. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Shock And Awe

Outside St. Luke’s Church, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) does his best double-take to ensure that he’s not seeing things. Nope, that really is a bewigged Ava standing before him. Is it possible that his grandmother Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk), is alive as well? Nope, not a chance, declares Ava.

Dejected and shaken, Johnny takes his former crush to task for murdering Susan, and Ava, in turn, disillusions the boy further with the revelation that his father kidnapped Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) in an effort to forgo paying Susan’s ransom.

Inside the chapel, a furious Tripp was announcing (read: shouting at the top of his lungs) much the same to the assemblage. No one seemed that surprised that EJ would resort to such tactics, except perhaps Aunt Sister Mary Moira.

DOOL Recap: The Way Things Were

In an effort to lull Kristen into a false sense of security, John spun a yarn about how he and Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) are having a fundamental difference of opinion over her — John insists that he’s totally onboard with Kristen reconnecting with Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater), while Marlena views Kristen’s efforts as subterfuge to win Brady’s affections — then set about reminding Kristen of all the good she once did.

And who could forget when she was merely Kristen Blake, social worker extraordinaire — not to mention the best little league coach this side of the Salem River? Or how about that time Kristen pointed out to all and sundry that Marlena was playing host to Lucifer himself?

Kristen is a good person, declares John, and he resolves to convince Doc of that — but Kristen admits that she’s not so good. In fact, she’s done wrong. She has sinned. Big time!

DAYS Recap: Now Hear This

Brady’s just itching to give Eric a good talking to, but Eric isn’t in the least bit interested, especially when Brady takes the position that Eric and Nicole Walker Soon-To-No-Longer-Be-Hernandez (Arianne Zucker) will soon work through the stumbling block that is Jada Hunter’s (Elia Cantu) pregnancy. Newsflash Brady: Jada is no longer pregnant, and it’s all Nicole’s fault.

Though chagrined, Brady still tries to put in a good word for Nicole. Eric doesn’t appreciate it. Instead, he’d rather turn the tables and explore Brady’s ever-changing position on Kristen. Brady doesn’t appreciate the change of subject.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Let Your Fists Do The Talking

Despite being in Stefan’s presence, Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) can’t help but feel sorry for herself in light of her estrangement from Brady. Equally upsetting is the fact that she’s missing out on the performance of one of her all-time favorite operas because it was Brady who booked the tickets, and he’s completely forgotten the date. Stefan doesn’t think that this indignity should be allowed to stand.

So, when Stefan and Chloe cross paths with Brady and Eric, Stefan soldiers right up to his love rival and starts shouting. Brady punches him in the face for his troubles. Rather than involve the police, Stefan decides to take the high road — why start now? — and instead, escorts Chloe to the reception/post-memorial buffet being held at the DiMera manse. What a romantic!

DOOL Recap: Truth Bomb

Upon hearing that Tripp has inadvertently walked into the trap that she’s laid for EJ, Ava rushes into the church and does her best to extract him.

When Tripp would rather stand his ground and address the fact that his mother actually survived that fiery car crash off the side of the mountain, Ava announces to all that there’s a bomb on the premises, and even goes to the trouble of showing it off. Seconds later, it explodes!
