The DAYS recap for Monday, December 12, 2022, sees a not-at-all-brilliant plan put into action, a bestie conscripted into the (metaphorical) line of fire, a hunt undertaken, and so much more.
In this episode, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) compounds Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) troubles tenfold — so no changes there then. Elsewhere, Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) decide to continue working side by side, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) grow ever closer, and Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) gets an update on his good buddy’s troubles. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
All it took was hearing Xander speak some phrases that vaguely corresponded to ones spoken by her kidnapper, and suddenly Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis (Judi Evans) was adding two and two and coming up with her cousin-in-law was the muscle-bound clown that made that one weekend a misery.

Try as he might, Xander couldn’t dissuade Bonnie of her notion, nor could be convince her to put down her cell phone and/or stop bandying about threats to call the police or Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth).
Luckily for Xander, or unluckily depending on your outlook, Gwen arrived on the scene with the forethought to knock Bonnie unconscious with a nearby rock.
But now, what do they do? Why, stage an elaborate con, that’s what! First things first, truss Bonnie up — yes, again! — and deposit her in a storage room. Then, beat Xander about the face and tie him up beside her. Perfection! Bonus: Gwen got to really work out her anger at Xander choosing Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godrey) over her.
Now, the finishing touch: convince Bonnie that she had it all wrong — that Xander is actually an innocent bystander — by muddying the waters with a new villain in a clown mask — and who does Gwen know who’d just love to do some playacting? Leo!
Speaking of Leo…he’s beginning to make some real inroads with Sonny, and he actually seems to be pretty genuine in his apologies for all the bad things he did to his ex. Forgiven but still not forgotten, declares Sonny, and that’ll have to do for now.
What Sonny is prepared to do, however, is make sure that his…buddy?…friend?…Leo finds a decent job. He’s especially impressed by Leo’s pitch that The Spectator hire him as a gossip columnist, but word(s) of warning: Jack does not suffer fools, and Leo’s work can’t be mean-spirited. Boo, where’s the fun in that, says Leo, only half joking.
Where is Bonnie Lockart Kiriakis? Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis? Where on Earth can she be? It’s the refrain being asked by several of the woman’s loved ones, Justin in particular. With Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) and Sonny by his side, he searches hither and thither and comes up empty-handed, save for the scarlet scarf that Bonnie was last seen wearing. This does not bode well.
Stephanie’s pho might have been intended for Alex — and of course, we mean the Vietnamese soup dish, get your mind out of the gutter; it’s peacock, not the Playboy Channel — but Chad got to reap the benefit.
In addition to the meal, Chad also received a glowing appraisal of his work, and an offer to remain at Stephanie Johnson Public Relations as Stephanie’s number two. He happily accepted, but only on the condition that Stephanie make doubly sure that Alex wouldn’t mind the two of them working together.
He won’t, assured Stephanie. And besides, it’s not as though there’s any other reason they shouldn’t be working together, right? It’s not as though Chad has a big ole crush on her and is uber jealous of her and Alex’s budding relationship, right? Right?!
How is Xander doing, Jack wonders to Sarah? Not too good, replies Sarah to Jack. His last job was a bust, and he’s feeling awful lowly…but Jack shouldn’t feel guilty about not giving Xander a job despite his down-and-out status. Oh no. Sarah totally gets that Jack doesn’t want Xander and Gwen in each other’s orbit. Sarah doesn’t want that either.
