In the Days of our Lives recap for August 22, 2023, Sloan literally dies on the floor of the hospital — which nobody subsequently seems to consider a big deal — and it’s her mortal enemy who rides to her rescue.

In addition, Johnny wound up a loser in love (yet again), EJ’s suspicions were raised, and Li and Melinda used one another metaphorically and literally (wink wink, nudge nudge). Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Baby Blues
Having concluded another session with Marlena (Deidre Hall), Talia (Aketra Sevillian) hung around the hospital’s nurses’ station to phone Chanel (Raven Bowens) and both congratulate her on Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) ascension to the mayorship and let her out of their date if she so chose.
Chanel would have none of that. They were still on for the concert…even if she did have some things to attend to at the bakery beforehand. Upon hanging up the phone, Talia crossed paths with Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) who floated the idea of her coming to work at the hospital…as a doctor, of course.

Meanwhile, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) readied to admit to Eric (temporary recast Jason Gerhardt) that Nicole (Arianne Zucker) was pregnant with his baby. But no sooner had she opened her mouth and attempted to form the words, than she was seized by sharp pains. “Like, really sharp.”
For a moment, they seemed to pass. Then they returned with a vengeance. Eric escorted Sloan to the hospital where, much to the latter’s chagrin, they learned Talia was the only medical professional about.
After spitting out some venom, Sloan collapsed into a heap and Talia discovered she had no pulse to speak of. Cue Talia performing life-saving measures and winning herself Eric and Kayla’s favor.

A slightly recovered Sloan was rushed into a nearby room and Kayla set about performing a scan to check on the baby. Unfortunately, she was unable to detect a heartbeat. The baby didn’t make it.
DAYS Recap: “The Course Of True Love” Yada, Yada, Yada
Upon agreeing to give her brother free run of the apartment for the evening, Wendy (Victoria Grace) found herself at a loss for something to do. Luckily Chanel was out and about and able to provide her with a momentary distraction.
Wendy was…surprised to learn that Chanel had made plans with Talia for later that evening, especially considering she’d suspected that Chanel and Johnny (Carson Boatman) would be a bona fide item by now.
Speaking of Johnny, Nicole urged him not to give up on Chanel and instead “throw his hat in the ring” and allow her to decide between him and Talia, and he decided to do just that. However, before he could attempt to say anything to his lady love, Talia interrupted, and he lost his nerve.
DOOL Recap: Best Laid Plans
In the apartment that he shares with Wendy and Tripp (Lucas Adams), Li (Remington Hoffman) sweet-talked Melinda (Tina Huang) into coming around for a home-cooked meal and a nice bottle of red. Of course, that necessitated Melinda forgoing informing EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) that he wasn’t the father of Nicole’s baby because…reasons.
Despite Li’s plan of winning Melinda over and her plan of tricking him into confessing to arranging the failed hit on Stefan (Brandon Barash), the two concluded their evening by having a rough and wild romp in the “hay.”
Days of our Lives Recap: The Last To Know
Despite himself, EJ’s interest was piqued. What could Melinda possibly have up her sleeve? Why had she insinuated that he shouldn’t marry Nicole? Nicole certainly didn’t know. What’s more, she certainly didn’t care.
