In the Days of our Lives recap for Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Nicole got some most devastating (and verifiably false) news.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Harris’s negligence came back to bite him, Stefan and Ava failed to agree on a plan of attack, and Dimitri clued Leo in on a whopper of a secret. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.

Baby Be Mine

At University Hospital, Nicole (Arianne Zucker) demanded that Eric (Greg Vaughan) tear open the test results right then and there. That way, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) could drop her facade and they could get to the truth, namely that their child is Nicole’s son.

A horrified Sloan decried the plan. Nicole insisted that Sloan’s objections merely proved her suspicions. And Eric, for his part, suggested they just open the envelope and put everyone’s minds at ease.

According to the DNA analysis * drumroll please * the kid was not Nicole’s son. But, how could that be? She was so sure that the baby was hers. In fact, the baby is hers, so what gives? Enter Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) to explain that the lab didn’t test the wee one’s DNA against hers but rather EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel) when her sample proved insufficient.

Nicole threw a fit, yelled at Eric for arranging the test just to appease her, and then stormed out — but not before bidding the baby farewell. Eric, Sloan, and their tyke returned home and, after sweeping the DNA debacle under the rug, got down to the business of choosing a name for the little guy.

Eric Junior was out considering the man Eric was named after was an unrepented child molester. How about Jude? And no, not like The Beatles song. Like the Patron Saint of Lost Causes. Sloan loved it.

Key Evidence

There was news aplenty at the Salem Police Department, some good, some bad. The good was that Dimitri (Peter Porte) was poised to turn himself in. That should put a dent in their clearance rate. The bad was that the drugs confiscated in the Sikowski case had disappeared from the lockup. All five kilos of it.

Rafe (Galen Gering) and Harris (Steve Burton) considered that it was the work of somebody on the inside. The former floated that maybe it wasn’t a cop. Maybe it all had something to do with Harris’s keys going missing. Either way, thanks to theft, the whole case would probably be thrown out and the “drug dealing scum will be back on the street.” And, because of that, Harris was suspended without pay. Just kidding! As if Rafe would follow proper procedure.

Agree To Disagree

Meanwhile, Ava (Tamara Braun) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) (whom you may recall conspired to steal those aforementioned drugs) debated over how best to handle Clyde Weston (James Read).

Stefan voted to kill him dead. Well, to hire someone to kill him dead, to be precise. And, he’s got the perfect guy in mind: Ivan, his mother’s henchman. The guy’s already helped her bury someone alive, shanking Clyde would be child’s play.

Ava blanched. What a terrible idea. A big mistake all around. Firstly, someone could just fill the power vacuum and keep them under their thumb. Secondly, if Ivan screws up, they were screwed royally. Her son and Stefan’s wife would be as good as dead. No, they’ll just have to come up with another plan.

Before the two could put their heads together, Harris arrived in the hopes that Ava could lift his spirits after Keygate. He wasn’t exactly thrilled by the idea of Stefan buying into The Bistro, but Ava said she was happy, so that was that. On to the business at hand. Does his lady friend have any recollection of what he did with his keys after using them to open his drawer and retrieve the pen and paper she used to give her statement in regard to Gil’s death? As for Stefan, he got away while the getting was good and made a call to his mommie dearest.

Say What?!

Opposite Nicole’s sadness over her inability to distinguish between her baby and the one adopted by Eric and Sloan (oh, if only she knew!), Dimitri, whose gallant act (sound argument) secured Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) freedom, informed Leo of something big. Nicole’s baby didn’t die!
