In the Days of our Lives recap for July 11, 2023, Li Shin manages to skate on the plethora of charges leveled against him.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Shawn’s imbibing came back to bite him in a big way, Stefan and Gabi cleared the air between them, and Wendy (Victoria Grace) decided that it was finally time to put Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Tripp (Lucas Adams) out of their misery. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Advice & Consent
At University Hospital, Marlena (Deidre Hall) brought Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) out of yet another trance. Much to their chagrins, Harris still had an overwhelming urge to kill Stefan (Brandon Barash)… even though he objectively knows that it’s wrong to do so. Very, very wrong.
Harris insisted that ECT was his best/last hope for deprogramming, but Marlena blanched. Too risky. No one is getting zapped on her watch. And besides, the conditioning that Harris was exposed to isn’t as ingrained as before. It may feel like it has him in a vice grip now, but Marlena is sure she has the key to Harris’s salvation. He’s just going to have to trust her.

Marlena put Harris back into a trance and bid him to relay what he remembers — and what he remembered was Li (Remington Hoffman) giving him the order to kill Stefan. Next, Marlena suggested that Harris replay the scene as if he were an observer and not a participant. Any changes?
Major ones, as it turns out. Instead of Li giving him his marching orders, Harris sees Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) doing just that and blaming Li. *GASP* Li is innocent! It was Dr. Rolf and Megan who brainwashed him. Li was an innocent patsy. [Not really though.] And just like that, Harris no longer wanted to end Stefan’s life. But he very much did want to be committed to Bayview.
Opposite this, Wendy confronted Li at the police station and railed at him for his actions. How could he let her walk into a situation that could have gone so very, very wrong? What he did was unconscionable, indefensible, and a whole lot of other angry words.
Then came the metaphorical knife wound. Wendy had been proud of him when he didn’t fight the divorce from Gabi (Camila Banus) and seemed to be taking the high road and becoming a better man; but now, instead of pride, she feels shame, shame that Li is her brother. [Ouch!]
In retaliation, Li took Wendy to task for stringing Johnny and Tripp along. Wendy pushed back. She’s merely trying to make a responsible, informed decision. It’s confusing, and it’s difficult, but she’ll eventually make her decision. And what’s more, she won’t resort to committing crimes along the way.
Li’s two cents? Wendy already knows which of the two men she wants to choose, she’s just reluctant to hurt the one she’ll eventually reject. That bit of armchair psychoanalyzing concluded, Li learned that Harris had cleared his good name — not that Melinda (Tina Huang) bought his pseudo-innocent act.
DOOL Recap: Demon In A Bottle
Equally disconcerting to Melinda was catching a whiff of Shawn’s (Brandon Beemer) breath and immediately deducing that he’d been drinking on the job. The problem with that? Try Shawn’s an on-duty cop carrying a gun. Upon running into Rafe (Galen Gering), Melinda demanded that Shawn be fired on the spot. Luckily for Shawn, Rafe jumped to his defense. Unluckily for him, Rafe did agree that necessary [and swift] action was called for. To that end, Shawn was suspended from active duty.
DAYS Recap: Taking A ‘Stabi’ At It
Finally freed from Megan’s (Miranda Wilson) hospital bed, Gabi looked forward to only one thing, namely, relaxing in the arms of her loving fiancé…but Stefan wasn’t in a loving mood. He was PISSED! Just what had she been thinking? Telling lies, going to confront a known criminal on her own. What’s wrong with her?!
Gabi huffed and puffed and termed Stefan an ungrateful ass and headed for home. There, the couple came together and decided they were fighting because they were just so good at it. After making up [and making out] the two decided to make a pact. From here on out, they’ll work as a team, and only as a team.
Days of our Lives Recap: Double Trouble
Over at the apartment that he and Wendy share, Tripp was less than pleased to open the door to Johnny. As had become rote, the young men squared up against each other and hurled hurtful accusations. For a brief moment, they attempted a cease-fire. Emphasis on “brief moment.”
Enter Wendy who was glad to see the two together. She’d finally reached a decision. She knew which one of them she truly wanted to be with. And her answer was…psyche! You have to tune in tomorrow to find out.
