The Days of our Lives recaps for January 2 – January 6, 2023, featuring a beloved character shuffling off her mortal coil, a marriage that never should have been dissolved, several inconvenient truths coming to light, and more.
Gabi Hernandez Shin (Camila Banus) fills Stefan O. DiMera (Brandon Barash) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) in on Stefan’s brainwashing by Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) and the role that Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) and Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) played in it. A flummoxed Stefan kicks Gabi out of the hotel room and tries to pick up where he and Chloe left off, but his date isn’t interested.
Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) pull back from their kiss and make plans to go on an actual date. Wendy then visits Li and offers him a listening ear…EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole Walker Hernandez (Arianne Zucker) very nearly make love, but the latter put a moratorium on the action.
Kristen is distraught when Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater) is nowhere to be found. Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) privately assures Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) that his daughter is well. Afterward, he sends Kristen instructions to hold tight and keep her mouth shut lest any harm befalls the wee one…Eric brings Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty), whom he’s tasked with watching Rachel, up to date on matters; she’s chagrined to learn that she’s been made an accessory to kidnapping.
Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) reconcile and agree to disagree where Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) is concerned…Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) is roped into joining Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and his brood on an ice-skating expedition. Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) spies Stephanie and Chad together and warns Chad away — much to Stephanie’s chagrin.
Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey) tells Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth), Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis (Judi Evans), and Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) that Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) was indeed the man who kidnapped Bonnie and Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk). Leo happens upon the conversation, overhears Gwen Rizczech’s name being bandied about as Xander’s co-conspirator, and rushes to alert his bestie…Sarah contemplates divorcing Xander…Bonnie and Justin confront Xander and Bonnie punches him in the gut.
Bonnie and Justin excoriate Xander and promise to see him punished in a court of law. A disillusioned Sarah announces to Xander that she wants a divorce…Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) receives and signs his copy of the divorce papers. Afterward, he and Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) are apprised of Xander’s chicanery by Bonnie and Justin. They confront Gwen and attempt to convince her to flip on Xander…Stephanie puts Alex on blast for his chauvinism.
Kristen uncovers Brady’s subterfuge and agrees to lead him to the much sought-after, medicinal orchid. Much to the pair’s horror, the bulb has been purloined…Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow), Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans), and Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) begin to relapse.
Kate takes a sudden turn for the worst and flatlines. Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder) calls the time of death…With Kayla deathly ill, Chad reaches out to Stephanie, but his call is screened by Alex who silences his date’s phone.
