The Days of our Lives recaps for December 19 – December 23, 2022, featured explosive climaxes, miracles abounding, and so much more.
Once the dust clears at St. Luke’s, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) and Nicole Walker Hernandez (Arianne Zucker) are discovered to be the two worst for wear. After Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) and Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) breathe life back into Ava and Nicole’s pinned leg is extracted from underneath, the injured are rushed to University Hospital.
Though he fails to elicit anything worthwhile, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) emerges from his convo with Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) more convinced than ever that she’s holding something over Brady Black’s (Eric Martsolf) head and resolves to discover exactly what that is… Brady confides in Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) that Kristen is ransoming the orchid from which the cure needed to sustain Marlena, Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans), and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) is synthesized… Kristen delights in stirring up drama between John and Marlena.
Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) arranges a surprise birthday party for Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey). The revelry is brought to a halt by the arrival of the likes of Nicole, Ava, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). Upon learning of Ava’s hospitalization, Xander visits. Ava insists that Xander will be her ticket out of town — lest she tells Sarah about his complicity in Susan Banks and Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis’s (Judi Evans) kidnapping… Eric makes a beeline for Nicole’s hospital bed and finds her in EJ’s arms. EJ curtly dismisses his rival.
Ava’s mental health worsens to the point where she mistakes Tripp for Charlie Dale (Mike Manning). Sarah sedates Ava and arranges for her transfer to Bayview; Xander is relived… Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) offers Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) lodging at the Kiriakis manse… Bonnie concedes to Justin Kiriakis’s (Wally Kurth) plea that she seek counseling for her rapidly escalating PTSD… Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) invites Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) to join him and his family for Christmas; she accepts.
Paulina Price Carver (Jackée Harry) officially resigns from her post as Mayor-Elect… Belle Black Brady’s (Martha Madison) legal maneuverings ensure Paulina and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) their freedom… EJ and Nicole take stock… Kristen continues to try and worm her way into Brady’s affections… Eric floats the idea of staging Rachel Black’s (Finley Rose Slater) kidnapping in an effort to force Kristen into handing over the much-prized orchid… Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) warned Paulina and Chanel that they’d be made to pay.
Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) endeared himself to soon-to-be-stepdaughter Holly Grace… Stefan O. DiMera (Brandon Barash) once again took Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) to task for accompanying Johnny to Jakarta. Wendy and Johnny debate the merits of clueing Stefan in on the fact that he’s been brainwashed into hating Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) but think better of it.
Chloe and Kristen and Rachel share a catty exchange in the town square. Stefan surprises Chloe with tickets to her favorite opera which is being performed in New York; she invites him to join her… Brady agrees to Eric’s suggested subterfuge… Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder) returns to Salem much to Kate and Roman Brady’s (Josh Taylor) delight. Rex takes several samples of Kate’s blood to ensure that the serum she was given is still doing its intended job.
It’s Christmas Eve in Salem, and the Horton family throws open their door for the annual tree trimming. An appearance put in by Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) — with his twin babies in tow — delights Doug and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes)… Xander is invited to the festivities and presented with his own ornament for the tree.
Wee Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) overhears Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) declaring that Xander owes her one. Gwen suitably covers by saying that she helped Xander pick out Sarah’s Christmas present; Thomas lets that tidbit slip to Sarah who’s furious when she unwraps lingerie… A vision of Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) encourages Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) to let joy back into his life.
