On today’s Days of our Lives, Sarah Horton finds herself in quite the predicament when her secret is outed to the biggest blabbermouth in Salem barring Anna Fredricks DiMera.
In addition, Xander (Paul Telfer) nabbed Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) a plum position at The Spectator, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) found himself much in demand, and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Chad (Billy Flynn) reconnected. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Rex (Kyle Lowder) was less than pleased to find that Bonnie (Judi Evans) was in Chicago in general and at his door in particular, and even less so when she barreled her way inside his apartment, begging and pleading for an audience with her granddaughter. Still, he couldn’t help but usher her into the little darling’s room so she could get her “peek.”

But no sooner was Bonnie out of sight than a heavily pregnant Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) came on the scene, talking a mile a minute and refusing to allow Rex to have any sort of say.
When Bonnie reappeared, Sarah attempted to pull an Elaine from Seinfeld, but Bonnie wasn’t fooled. “There’s no luggage big enough to hide that you’re knocked up, sweetie,” she declared before wrestling the oversized bag from Sarah’s grasp.
As to Bonnie’s comment on Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) playing her cards close to her vest, Sarah copped that no one knew she was pregnant, her mother included.
Bonnie immediately deduced that Xander (Paul Telfer) was the expectant pop, and Sarah and Rex were forced to scramble. Their best solution? Rex claimed paternity. Bonnie, however, had the duo’s number. “I know the two of you are lying through your teeth!”
Despite Rex’s best efforts to convince Bonnie of the contrary, Mrs. Kiriakis remained resolute in her opinion, and Sarah eventually relented. “You’re right. The baby is Xander’s.” But seeing as how it’s not Bonnie’s news to tell — no matter how much she may believe that Xander has a right to know [and Bonnie sure does believe that] — Sarah demanded that Bonnie promise her that one in Salem will find out the truth — Xander especially.
Back in Salem, Xander paid Gwen (Emily O’Brien) an unexpected and not at all welcomed visit. He’d hoped to bolster her spirits by announcing he’d found a solution to their staffing issue [an issue brought about by Gwen herself, owing to her overbearing managerial style] in Chloe, but Gwen wouldn’t hear of it
To be clear, she wanted to hire a “qualified, seasoned sales professional to replace Gottlieb, not some out-of-work bloody lounge singer.”
“Opera singer,” testily corrected Xander. “Singing La Traviata isn’t exactly an MBA and three years experience like we’re looking for,” huffed an even testier Gwen.
Xander tried to sell Gwen on Chloe’s resume [restauranter, employee at Basic Black, etc.] then pulled the trump card that was accusing her of being jealous.
“That’s what you want to think, isn’t it? Because that would feed your already huge ego to think that I’m jealous of Chloe Lane, which I am not,” bellowed Gwen, who added, “I don’t want to hire that bloody dullard of a woman because she’s not qualified for the bloody job!”
Sensing he was quickly losing ground, Xander put his foot firmly down. He’d offered Chloe the job, and it was her. Done deal. In response, Gwen hissed that when the move proved to be “an unmitigated disaster,” then it would come out of Xander’s side of the profits. Agreed!
Opposite this, Brady (Eric Martsolf) beseeched Chloe to return to Basic Black, but she turned him down flat — she’s a newswoman now. Brady tried to talk Chloe around by besmirching Gwen, but even that failed to land.
At the Kiriakis manse, Justin (Wally Kurth) had a bone to pick with Maggie. “Why the Hell you fired my son from the family business?”
Maggie decried Justin’s tone as well as his insinuation that she wasn’t in the least qualified to pass judgment on Alex’s performance. What’s more, she doesn’t think it fair of Justin to make Alex’s firing a personal and/or family issue.
Justin persisted in arguing Alex’s case and eventually convinced Maggie to give his son one more one last chance.
Meanwhile, Alex, having been driven from Stephanie’s apartment by a preening Chad — who couldn’t believe that Alex had gotten himself fired by the likes of Maggie, AKA Glinda the Good Witch — ran into Gwen and attempted to sell himself for the open position at The Spectator.
Unfortunately for Alex, Chloe beat him to it. Unfortunately for Gwen, Alex is sticking to his celibacy and commitment to better himself.
Enter Brady to convince Alex that he should come work for him at Basic Black. To say that Justin and Maggie were put out by the subsequent news that Alex had joined the competition would be an understatement.
And speaking of Stephanie and Chad, after she chastised him for giving Alex an unnecessarily hard time and he filled her in on his newly discovered James Bond villain-esque kin, they got down to some serious business — monkey business, that is — on the living room sofa.
