Bail Revoked! Tate Is Heading to Jail

In addition, tensions mounted between Justin and Alex, Abe issued an apology to Paulina, and Chanel recalled her memorable — and sticky — New Year’s Eve night with Johnny. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.

Hope For The Future

Down at the SPD, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) did his utmost to convince Theresa (Emily O’Brien) to remove his dad * ahem * make that, Justin (Wally Kurth), as Tate’s (Jamie Martin Mann) counsel in lieu of the ruthless, high-powered criminal attorney he’d found the night before.

Theresa, however, wouldn’t budge…even when Rafe (Galen Gering) suggested that it wouldn’t be too bad an idea — what with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) grinding his axe against Tate.

Once Brady (Eric Martsolf) and John (Drake Hogestyn) joined the gathering, Justin walked them through the next steps. At the arraignment, Tate would plead not guilty. Bail would then be set, and, seeing as Tate is still a minor, he’d be released into a parent’s custody. Brady’s to be exact. And, as for the group joining him and his client at the courthouse? That’s a no-go. The judge wouldn’t tolerate any of their inevitable outbursts.

Opposite the bail hearing, Alex once again floated the possibility that Tate could have been taking drugs alongside Holly (Ashley Puzemis), but Theresa wouldn’t hear of it. At the same time, Brady wondered to John whether or not Tate could have been taking drugs alongside Holly. (How coincidental!)

Good Mourning

Meanwhile, Paulina (Jackée Harry) was pleased as punch to emerge from her bedroom to find that Abe (James Read) had cooked up all her favorite breakfast foods. Namely, turkey sausage, fried eggs, tomatoes, and Texas toast. But, not so fast. He hasn’t so much remembered they were her favorites as he did just use what was in the refrigerator. Sorry!

Speaking of apologies, Abe extended Paulina one for being unable to make love to her the night before. He just felt it would be wrong to be intimate when he doesn’t remember what they had. However, he does love the woman that he’s getting to know. (Awwwww!)

Chanel (Raven Bowens) appeared halfway through the couple’s (?) meal, and once Abe made himself (momentarily) scarce, mother and daughter caught up. Paulina confided that the night before was lovely but not all it was cracked up to be, and Chanel sugar-coated the passionate evening, night, and morning she spent with Johnny (Carson Boatman) — and a can of whipped cream.

The convo then turned to Holly and her plight — the news of which had rather put a damper on Johnny and Chanel’s plans. Paulina and Abe bemoaned the recent deaths and the escalating drug crisis. When will it end?

Upper Hand

Johnny made his way to the hospital, checked in on his father, and requested to see Holly. Not possible, insisted EJ. Nicole (Arianne Zucker) was in there with her…with Eric (Greg Vaughan). Johnny expressed surprise that his dad was handling the situation so well, necessitating EJ to explain he was attempting to do his best by Nicole.

By doing his best, he really meant make sure that Tate pays and pays and pays. Even Johnny’s confessing that Holly had taken to drinking to drown her sorrows didn’t dissuade him from his mission.

When word reached him that Tate and Justin had emerged from the courthouse triumphant, he threw his weight around and had the bail revoked. Tate and company were devastated when Rafe declared that he wouldn’t be getting to go home after all.
