On today’s Days of our Lives, Abe Carver had more than a few moments of clarity that led to more confusion when he called out his lying liar of a “wife.”
In addition, Gabi and Stefan turned up the heat, Paulina joined the hunt for her loving husband, and Megan (Miranda Wilson) took down EJ…literally. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into exactly what happened.
Over in the apartment, Abe (James Reynolds) replayed the tape of his mayoral acceptance speech and wondered how it could be true and what exactly was going on. His suspicions were increased when he dove back into Body & Soul. Watching Kassandra accuse Charlemagne of kidnapping a man really got Abe thinking.
Before long, faux-Paulina arrived home. Abe shut off the TV and confronted her. “You and I need to talk,” he said sternly. Whitley (Kim Coles) was shocked and asked what about. “Well, for starters, why the hell didn’t you tell me that I was the mayor of this town?!” Whitley looked dumbstruck. He then demanded to know what else she was lying about.
Abe told her about the press conference. Whitley covered by saying that yes, Abe was mayor, but only for a short time. He gave up politics after being impeached during a rivalry with EJ DiMera. Abe wasn’t buying it and called her out.
Whitley then spun a story about how his shady campaign manager, Jennifer Horton, cheated to get his win. As the fake story went, Mayor Abe had nothing to do with the scheme, but EJ proved it, and Abe was ousted. She then claimed EJ is still the mayor. The name Jennifer rang a bell with Abe but nothing else about the story did. Later, the pair returned to watching their stories, but Whitley turned it off when the topic of amnesia kept coming up.
At the same time, Paulina (Jackée Harry) showed up to see John and Steve (Stephen Nichols) only to be disappointed the men have no leads. They only know that Whitley was the last one to see Abe. Paulina was definitely not worried about the nurse and was convinced she got all anyone would need from the nurse.

John (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve assured her they were working on it. They know what it’s like for a loved one to go missing. They also assured her Abe wouldn’t give up hope. He’ll know they are all looking for him. They promised they would not rest until they brought him home.
Megan and Li’s (Remington Hoffman) phone conversation was cut short when their siblings walked into their respective rooms. EJ was especially worried and thought he was the one Megan was plotting against. He wasn’t putting up with it and told Megan to pack her bags.
Megan was aghast. “You can’t kick me out of this house,” she bellowed. “I just did!” Was EJ’s retort. EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was practically giddy to tell his dear sister that HE owns the house now, therefore, he chooses who lives there.
Of course, Megan refused to leave. She then confessed her secret. “It’s not you I’m planning to kill, you idiot. It’s Stefan.” That stopped EJ in his tracks. He queried why she would go after Stefan. Megan simply said she wanted to shake things up. It would make Gabi (Camila Banus) vulnerable and free up more money and power for her.
They then argued about whether or not Stefano would approve of such a thing. Megan reminded EJ their father would eat his own young. And, plus, there was no way he’d even approve of EJ being an heir. “You think his legacy belongs to you? The little boy who he sired with a bucktoothed imbecile via turkey baster?” (Ouch.)
EJ was not putting up with any of this. Even Megan trying to sweeten the pot didn’t work. She begged him to keep her plan a secret, but EJ refused. He made it clear he was going to tell Stefan. Poor EJ then made the mistake of turning his back on Megan, who picked up a vase and smashed it into the back of his head, rendering him unconscious. “Look what you made me do!”
Meanwhile, Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi had a sizzling hot night upstairs. They set all the drama with his siblings aside (for now) and hit the sheets. After, they talked about their future. Gabi admitted she was scared to let herself be this happy again, considering how things went last time.
“Stefan, how do you know something awful isn’t waiting for us around the corner again,” she asked. He promised her nothing was going to go wrong again. They have their second chance, and he wouldn’t let anything stand in their way.
Stefan and Gabi finally came up for air and went downstairs. They arrived in the living room mere seconds after Megan dragged EJ’s lifeless body into the secret passageway and closed the door. Stefan was upset to see the broken vase, even picking up a piece of it and setting it down again on the bar, but blamed it on the clumsy cleaning ladies.
As for Li, he got a third degree from Wendy (Victoria Grace). He lied and told his sister he hired a matchmaker. Wendy teased him a bit about searching for love through an agency instead of online. Li shut that down by showing her his divorce papers.
Wendy was proud her brother was moving on. Just look how far he has come. He went to great lengths to keep Gabi during his obsession with her. “You transformed into a love-sick maniac,” Wendy reminded him before listing off his crimes. But, now, he’s moving on with his life. Good on you, brother!
