On today’s Days of our Lives, Sarah Horton learned a most inconvenient truth. What she plans to do about it remains to be seen.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Leo (Greg Rikaart) got quite the hot scoop, Sonny (Zach Tinker) bid his loved ones adieu, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) learned that he shouldn’t count his chickens before they’ve hatched, and Gwen (Emily O’Brien) received one of those figurative gut punches. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Sarah Horton: Mother To Be
A righteously indignant and nauseous Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) barreled her way inside Xander’s (Paul Telfer) motel room and demanded to know exactly how he got his lot little hands on The Spectator.
I had no idea you had such strong opinions on The Fourth Estate, huffed Xander. Oh, but I do, huffed Sarah even harder. Especially when some no-good, down-and-dirty so-and-so thieves from her family.

And before Xander can deny the charge, Sarah pointedly points out there there’s no way Jack (Matthew Ashford) would willingly choose, of his own free will, to hand over the reins of his newspaper to one of the most reviled women in Salem who has ZERO journalism experience.
So how did Xander do it? Huh? Huh? How did he force her cousins to hand over the legacy that they’d put their blood, sweat, and tears into? Huh? HUH?!
BLACKMAIL! AND WHAT’S MORE, IT’S YOUR FAULT, bellowed Xander. Come again, blubbered Sarah.
Oh, that’s right, Xander had indeed decided to call off his plan to do bad by his best mate, but then Sarah had to get right up in his face and brag about bedding Rex (Kyle Lowder). That was the final indignity. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. That was the push Xander needed to wrestle ownership of The Spectator and give it to Gwen.
What does Sarah have to say to that? Nothing much…her hurl into the nearby toilet probably summed it up better than any words could.
Hours later, while doing her myriad of rounds at Salem University Hospital, Sarah was approached by a colleague who helpfully(?) pointed out that she looked pretty green behind the gills. Perhaps she should have a test or two run? Agreed, said Sarah.
And what should those tests reveal but that Sarah is with child? Color the expectant mother stunned. Color Rex — who’d tracked Sarah down to offer her a job at the Seattle-based hospital in which he toils — even more so.
DAYS Recap: Standard Bearer
Gwen may be a villainess, but she does have journalistic integrity…at least enough to refuse to publish Leo’s scathing, libelous gossip column.
How dare you Gwennie, complained Leo. The truth is so 2015. If their paper has any chance of surviving, it’s going to need an infusion of life, energy, buzz — everything that his writing has in spades.
No, no, Gwen wouldn’t hear of it. She appreciates Leo’s drive, but she won’t print out and out lies. If he wants “Lady Whistleblower” to see the light of day in her paper, he’s going to have to go out and uncover something factual.
Fine, groused Leo, who strutted off, mischief-making in mind.
Opposite this, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) found Alex at Titan, making himself right at home in the Chief Executive Officer’s office. And why not, beamed Alex? After all, it’s only a matter of time before Victor gives him the job.
Oh is it, wondered Steph. Tis, insisted Alex. Is she going to have a problem with that? Is it going to be too difficult to work as closely with him as she did with Sonny?
Perish the thought, claimed Stephanie. They’re both adults…ish. They can handle this new normal. Seal the deal with a handshake, asked Alex. Agreed, replied Steph.
At the moment the duos’ hands touched, Leo slithered into the room, tape recorder at the ready. But what was he doing there? Why, to find out whether the rumors that Alex was responsible for breaking up Allie (Lindsay Arnold) and Chanel’s (Raven Bowens) sapphic sanctuary were true, of course.
LIES, shouted Alex. Oh really, pried Leo. Yeah…mostly, argued Alex. Uh-huh, hedged a disbelieving Leo, who then proceeded to fill Steph in on the threesome that Alex and “Challie” enjoyed months earlier.
In a rage, Alex smashed Leo’s tape recorder and hurled several threats. Leo preened and posed. Steph looked on, absolutely disgusted. Eventually, she did acknowledge that what he did in his personal life was his own business.
Sonny Kiriakis Takes His Leave, Alex Kiriakis Is Betrayed
Elsewhere, the Brady Pub to be exact, Sonny informed a dejected Chad (Billy Flynn) that he would soon be joining Will (Chandler Massey), Allie, Henry, and Arianna Grace in New Zealand. Afterward, the two were joined by Justin (Wally Kurth) and later a chagrined Alex — he thought it was only going to be family at his brother’s farewell — and Sonny’s adventure was feted.
Before heading to the airport, Sonny doled out big bear hugs, put an offer on the table that any of his loved ones could come visit him “down under” anytime the mood struck, and asked Chad and an arriving Steph to watch out for one another.
Upon returning to the Kiriakis abode, Alex was surprised to find Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) waiting up for him, and even more surprised to hear her say that Victor had decided to give the CEOship to another Kiriakis.
DOOL Recap: Say What?!
The last person Xander expected to come knocking on his door was Justin but come knocking Justin did — and he came bearing news. There’s a problem — a BIG problem — with his and Sarah’s pending divorce…and that’s going to prove to be a big problem for a lovelorn Gwen. Only moments earlier, Xander had cried to her that there was no way he could possibly think about a future for them while he was still married.
