A Newly Freed Andrew Donovan Runs Into Paul’s Waiting Arms

On today’s Days of our Lives, Andrew Donovan obtains his freedom, but at a considerable expense — especially for the good people of Salem. At least Paul got to reap the fringe benefits.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Lord Sebastian Alamain (Noah Huntley) magnanimously agreed to let Dimitri (Peter Porte) off the hook, twisted sisters Megan (Miranda Wilson) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) got on the same page, and Marlena (Deidre Hall) reunited with her sister-in-peril. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Andrew Donovan Is Freed

A bucket full of water brought a worse-for-wear Andrew (Colton Little) round, but he still needed a bit of prodding to remember exactly where he was and how he got there. Soon enough, he recalled being lured away from Greece by a photo supposedly showing Paul (Christopher Sean) in dire straits.

Andrew’s captors assured him that as soon as his daddy granted their boss exactly what he asked for, they’d set him free. Ever the quipping spymaster, Andrew attempted to ascertain who it was the baddies were toiling for, but no answers were forthcoming.

Andrew briefly extricated himself from the ties that bound him and even managed to render one guard on his detail unconscious, but in no time flat, he was back in his chair and secured even tighter than before. Luckily there was good news to impart: Daddy Shane had come through. Andrew was free to go. And go he did…straight to Paul’s apartment.

Andrew was a sight for Paul’s weary eyes as only a few hours earlier, he’d learned of his boyfriend’s predicament from John (Drake Hogestyn) and deduced that he was somewhat responsible as Andrew had been on the hunt for him.

Paul was shocked to learn Andrew Donovan was kidnapped on Days of our Lives.

But happy as all concerned were for Andrew’s safe return, it did come at quite the price, namely the immediate release of Dimitri, his cuckoo-for-cocoa puffs mother, and her equally psychotic little sister.

DAYS Recap: They Stoop To Conquer

Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) immunity deal came as the biggest shocker, even to Kristen herself. After all, Megan wasn’t exactly enamored of the idea of throwing a wrench into the works, but Kristen’s ample warnings of “Don’t think for a second my reach doesn’t extend past these prison bars” and “be advised, if you turn your back on me, you will live to regret it” proved sufficient to push the issue.

A slight hiccup in the personage of Lord Sebastian nearly derailed the villain’s best-laid plan, insistent as he was that that “scoundrel” Dimitri be placed in his custody so that he could return him to the maximum-security prison in Alamainia. Enter Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) to smooth things over with the royal visitor.

Dimitri was pleased as punch to hear that everything had worked out according to his ultimate desire, though he was slightly put out by the fact that he couldn’t sway Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) to throw his lot in with him and Megan.

Harris watches Dimitri reach desperately for the phone, since his mom was on it.

DOOL Recap: Playing Catchup

Back in Salem, Marlena enthusiastically greeted Roman (Josh Taylor) and Kate (Lauren Koslow). “Not too bad for someone who’s been dodging death, right?” quipped the latter.

Soon the trio was discussing Abe Carver’s (James Reynolds) delicate condition, and Colin Bedford’s (Jasper Newman) reign of terror, and all the other goings on that could only go on in Salem. Then there were the troubles abroad. At least Marlena and Kate [and Kayla] can say that they made it through the proverbial fire and came out the other side better for it. And why not? To quote Kate, they’re “bad assess!”

Days of our Lives Recap: Speak Of The Devils

Speaking of persevering, once Kate and Roman had taken their leave of Marlena, she phoned Kayla hoping for an update on Dimitri and Megan’s status and Andrew’s whereabouts. No luck — Steve had yet to get in touch with his Sweetness.

Marlena ruefully put into the ether her hope that “those criminals aren’t going to come back and make our lives miserable,” only to receive a most unwelcome visit from a newly freed Kristen!

Kristen DiMera shocked Marlena at her door.

Opposite, Roman and Kate decamped for the Brady Pub, and the former prepared the latter a heaping helping of scrambled eggs which were promptly drenched in hot sauce.

A debate was had over how they should spend their day — Roman suggested setting Kate up with a spa package; Kate countered that she wanted to head for Statesville lickety-split.

Roman attempted to dissuade his ladylove, but Kate was resolved to show up for Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) and prove to him that she was alive and well. That and she wanted to look that “bitch” Megan in the eye and give her a piece of her mind.

And who should waltz into the establishment, looking resplendent in royal blue and purr, “Looks like I saved you the trouble,” but Megan herself?

A free Megan Hathaway shocked Kate.

DOOL Recap: The Plot Thickens

For all those a mite confused as to Dimitri’s paternity and the extent of his closeness to Megan, here’s a handy, thorough explanation from the madwoman herself as relayed to Kristen:

“After my death, I was put into a cryogenic sleep. Several years later, my father had me thawed me out. I immediately wanted to return to Salem and fight for Bo, but Stefano felt that that would be unwise…my father wanted me to lie low for a while and spend some time in Europe, which I did. And that’s where I met Dimitri’s father… I wanted a child, and I got one.

“Naturally, I turned my focus to raising Dimitri. But after a few years, his father decided that my influence over little Dimitri was perhaps a bit too — absolute. Of course, that was utter nonsense. But nevertheless, my boy was sent away to boarding school. Fortunately, that didn’t prevent us from staying close. You know what they say, ‘A boy’s best friend is his mother.'”

And as for Dimitri’s pops, no name was given, and all Megan would say was that, though it was no love match, it was a “beautiful arrangement, a means to an end.” But Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), that’s another story!
