Susan Banks is (presumed) dead on Days Of Our Lives. Son EJ DiMera – after some above and beyond shrieking by his Aunt Sister Mary Moira – organized a funeral. EJ’s friends and relatives showed up. But his ex-wife, Sami Brady was a notable exception. Should she have made an appearance, nonetheless?
Sami (Alison Sweeney) is the mother of Susan’s (Stacy Haiduk) grandchildren, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), and his heretofore unseen since toddlerhood sister, Sydney DiMera. In theory, Sami should have come to pay her respects. But 12% of the audience believe it would have been cruel to EJ – give him hope for a reunion. It’s better if she keeps her distance. Especially since EJ’s date for the occasion is… Nicole Walker.
Susan was Sami’s mother-in-law, 41% point out. Sure, she kidnapped her amnesiac son, Will Horton (Chandler Massey) for a while there, let Sami think Will was dead, and convinced him he was her beloved EJ. But, you know, it’s a soap opera. So…bygones! EJ can use the support, as he seems to be the only one genuinely mourning. Sami is likely the only person capable of cheering him up.
Whatever Sami did, someone in Salem would take offense to it, 47% of fans have been watching the comings and goings in this town for a long time. Sending flowers was probably the least offensive thing she could have done. Coming back would have opened a lot of wounds. Though the inevitable smackdown with Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) would have been fun. And staying away probably disappointed Johnny. But if anyone knows you can’t please all of the people all of the time, it’s Sami. Which is probably why she stopped trying…back as a teenager.
