Shawn Brady had just barely taken a break from beating himself up for shooting his father on Days of our Lives when he effortlessly made the switch to blaming himself for his grandfather’s death. In a plane crash. That Shawn was nowhere near. Is he right to be heading down this path of despair?
Shawn Brady: Doing the Math
Shawn (Brandon Beemer) isn’t wrong, 5% of you hedge. Victor (John Aniston) was flying back from Greece. Victor was in Greece to be at comatose son Bo’s (Peter Reckell) bedside. Bo is in a coma because Shawn shot him. So, yes, you can draw a straight line from Point A to Point B.

But why stop at that chain of events? Following Shawn’s logic, he only shot Bo because his parents decided to have him. And Bo only exists because Caroline cheated on her husband. Why not blame Hope (Kristian Alfonso)? Why not blame Caroline? And you should definitely blame Megan (Miranda Wilson), who brainwashed Bo into being on that cliff in the first place. The point is that there is plenty of blame to go around. And drinking yourself into a stupor won’t help anyone, Shawn, 12% of the audience advises.

Shawn Brady: Snap Out of It
However, the majority of fans, 83% to be exact, don’t blame Shawn for Victor’s death. You do, however, blame him for getting stuck in the downward spiral and refusing any help to climb out of it. Belle (Martha Madison) has reached out to him. Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) has reached out to him. Brady (Eric Marstolf) has reached out to him. Marlena (Deidre Hall) has reached out to him.
The point is that he’s not alone, and he needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and pretending that he is. Shawn is a Horton, a Brady, a Kiriakis, and he’s married to a Black. He is literally related to the entire town. Everybody loves him, and everybody wants to help him. So accept it, already!
