Asking For It: Did Alex Kiriakis Deserve To Be Fired on Days of our Lives?

Alex Kiriakis was really trying to turn over a new leaf on Days of our Lives. He promised his Aaaaaahntie Maggie that he wouldn’t let her down in the negotiations with Yuri. Alex was actually standing up for Maggie when he told Yuri they wouldn’t be signing onto his “more edgy” plan.

Despite Alex’s (Robert Scott Wilson) best efforts, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) is holding him responsible for the deal falling through. She’s fired him — and threatened to add Stephanie (Abigail Klein) to the pyre. But did Alex deserve it?

Alex Kiriakis: Past Due

Alex should have been fired long ago, 12% of the fans dismiss. He’s been trying to undermine Maggie from the start. He should have been canned, then. Even if he doesn’t deserve it now, it’s only just desserts. Maggie may be late…but she isn’t wrong.

DAYS Blow Up

Alex screwed up, 19% remind. Yuri (Josh Flagg) wanted to go hip and modern, and Alex stayed old and stodgy. He wouldn’t even go do coke with Yuri in the bathroom. Maggie totally would have. She has handled the guy who called her old and out of touch. Alex was being too much of a gentleman. No gentleman could ever run a company started by Victor (John Aniston).

Alex Kiriakis: Days of our Lives Innocent Man

Alex was doing what Maggie wanted, a winning 79% remind. He was trying to set the course Maggie laid out. Yuri is the one who first changed the terms, then changed his mind. Alex tried to meet him halfway while also staying true to Maggie’s wishes.

Heck, she should have thanked him, not fired him. And Maggie refusing to listen to Stephanie just shows how power-hungry Maggie has gotten. She’s so defensive about deserving the position Victor left her in, that she’s making exactly the kind of decisions her husband didn’t expect his level-headed wife to make. This is a disaster all around. And Alex isn’t the only one to blame.
