Stefano, somehow made it out alive and next encountered John, Roman, and Marlena in Chichen Itza. Rather than coded prisms, Stefano was now desperate to obtain a set of ancient Mayan texts. In a case of been there done that, Stefano met the business end of a firearm and fell into a pit of fire.
Explosion
Stefanos’s next death was a little tame when compared to previous experiences but fire was once again a culprit. This time Stefano was presumed dead when the car he was supposedly riding in was shot at by John and exploded.
Water Grave
In 1994, Stefano was believed to have been lost at sea when the boat he was captaining – in an attempt to escape the burning Maison Blanche – was found beaten and battered on the shore.
Twofer
Stefano was a busy bee in 1996. First, he faked his and Marlena’s deaths in a plane explosion – all the better to keep his favorite blonde plaything locked inside a literal gilded cage. Then he appeared to be crushed to death after his former paramour, Rachel Blake, caused an explosion in an underground tunnel.
Falsehoods
In 2002, habitual liar and serial killer Andre – posing as Anthony – slinked into Salem supposedly carrying Stefano’s ashes but DNA testing proved otherwise. Two years later, Andre displayed what he claimed was Stefano’s desiccated and exsanguinated corpse but that would also be proved false.
Fakeout
Steve “Patch” Johnson faked Stefano’s death in 2007 in a bid to lure Andre into a police trap and later schemer Ian McAllister set up a faked murder so he could blame EJ for Stefano’s killing.
Ambiguity
A grieving Hope Brady entered the DiMera mansion in 2016 and fired three bullets into Stefano’s chest, seemingly ending his reign of terror once and for all. Shane Donovan posed as a still-living Stefano in order to exonerate Hope of his murder but photographic evidence seemed to show that Stefano was actually alive and hiding in a foreign country.
