In the past few months Days of Our Lives has resurrected not one, but two deceased members of the DiMera family – Tony and Kristen. And were it not for the untimely death of actor Joseph Mascolo, there is very little doubt their papa, Stefano DiMera, would have been next in line for a rebirth.
Nobody but nobody has died as many times or in as spectacular ways as the pugnacious family patriarch. In fact, no one in soap opera history has met the Grim Reaper and escaped more times than Stefano. The grandmaster of death even survived fire – the great cleanser – on two separate occasions.

One of the prisms was a highly volatile gem that had to be kept cold at all times, least it activate the tiny bomb hidden inside.
Said gem wound up falling onto an ice rink and setting the floor ablaze while Stefano was confronted by Marlena on a catwalk stretching high above the blazing inferno. Having just had her twin babies rescued from the madman’s clutches, a desperate Marlena produced a handgun and shot Stefano. The bullet’s force propelled Stefano backward and he plunged into the fire below.
