Despite his best intentions, Chad couldn’t take it anymore on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) and walked out on his wife… and we couldn’t help cringing.
That’s because we, like Abigail (Marci Miller), expected better of Chad (Billy Flynn). Heck, Chad expected better of himself, hence his inability to look her in the eye and his parting words to his devastated wife, “I’m sorry I’m not the man you thought I was.” Or that we thought he was!
It obviously pained him to walk out as you could see how torn he was once outside the door.
For her part, Abby was done. She was not going to beg him to be the man she needed him to be… but she was also gracious, telling him she completely understood why he had to do this.
Never mind that he’s left her a sitting duck to be taken advantage of by the brother he hates more than anything in the world — the same one who already took advantage of her when she was suffering from a mental disorder!
Now Stefan (Tyler Christopher) is poised to have even more influence over the mother of his child… or at least the baby he thinks is his. And that’s Chad’s doing, because he’s made it all about him. His pain. His humiliation. His wounded pride.
We get it, but we don’t like it. Chad was having a hard enough time looking at Abby without picturing her in bed with his brother.
Yes, that’s horrible. And maybe he needs time. But walking out on Abby when she needs him the most was incredibly selfish… and has us questioning whether or not he deserves her.
Abby was put between a rock and a hard place when Stefan wanted to feel the baby. Sure, she hates him as Abby but she remembers how Gabby felt about him and it was that part of her that may have shown poor judgment and let him put his hand on her belly to feel the kick.
Still, Chad isn’t even trying to see it from her point of view. Anything else that happens moving forward is on him.
