Stephen Nichols Days of Our Lives
As the coronavirus pandemic rages through the United States with numbers on the rise after other countries have managed to beat it, the mask debate also rages on. Days of our Lives star and soap vet Stephen Nichols takes masking seriously, as do public health experts and members of Congress from both political parties.
In fact, Nichols is not taking any chances with his health and the health of others and urges you to do the same. As a resident of Los Angeles County, which is seeing an enormous spike in cases currently, the actor fears for hospital capacity as health officials have already said they may run out of hospital beds soon if the surge continues.
“Listen, right now in Los Angeles, we are having a spike in cases,” Nichols says in an Instagram video. “One in 140 people are infected. If this continues, we can run out of hospital beds in the next 2-3 weeks.
“Now, you’re either helping the situation, or you’re part of the problem,” he continues. “If you’re not wearing a mask, you’re part of the problem.”
The actor seeks to illustrate his point by wearing both a mask and a face shield in the video, showing us all that he’s not joking around about doing his best to help our country weather this terrible storm. He reminds us that we don’t live in a bubble and what we do in one place affects other places and other fellow humans.
“This is Los Angeles. There are other states that are spiking as well, and soon, it will be everywhere. Young people, and anyone else who feels that they don’t need to wear a mask, you need to get some masks — they’re readily available now — and put one on when you go in public.
“Please think of others, not just yourself, the elderly, people who have immune deficiencies. You don’t know who they are. They’re walking among all of us. We need to help each other at this point. Get a mask, put it on.”
