Soap fans know that Linsey Godfrey is adept at both drama and comedy, given the humor infusions she’s injected into her performances not only as Sarah on Days of our Lives but also when she played Caroline in The Bold and the Beautiful. Now, we’re learning that comedy talent runs in the family!
The Emmy-nominated actress showed her daughter, Aleda, 6, a Molly Shannon sketch from Saturday Night Live in which she played 50-year-old Sally O’Malley. Sally, as SNL viewers recall, likes to proclaim her age and her abilities: “I’m 50!” and I like to “kick, stretch, and kick again!”
Aleda, while in a swimming pool, showed that she’s just as feisty and fun as Sally is! “I’m six!” Aleda exclaimed. “I like to kick! Stretch! And kick! I’m six!”
Godfrey first came to the attention of soap fans when she was cast as Caroline Spencer on BB, the daughter of Karen Spencer (Joanna Johnson), and namesake of the original Caroline (also played by Johnson). She played the part from 2012 to 2018. The character was killed off-camera (hmm) and launched Thomas’s (Matthew Atkinson) storyline in which he relentlessly pursued Hope (Annika Noelle), using his own son, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri), to win her heart.
Meanwhile, Godfrey soap-hopped over to Days of our Lives, landing the coveted role of Sarah Horton, Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) daughter. Many notable daytime veterans were also being considered for the part, but Godfrey won the role. What future roles might Aleda win? We have the feeling that if she sets her sights on acting, she’ll be a success!
