The Thursday, February 13 episode of Days of Our Lives featured a study in sibling dynamics. Belle and Brady analyzed Belle’s recent EJ pursuits. EJ made a decision that partly had to do with his sister Kristen and her daughter Rachel. But the biggest sibling move happened between Xander and Philip. The half-brothers started the episode at odds, but by the end, they were in synch like they hadn’t been before.

To Defeat a DiMera, Think Like One

Xander (Paul Telfer) had a bone to pick with Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) — he didn’t appreciate being investigated, especially without his knowledge. Philip quickly smoothed things over, letting his half-brother know that he had hired a PI to investigate everybody on the DiMera board. The private eye had to ask questions about Xander and his previous association with Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). That’s it. Xander’s anger and concerns were much ado about nothing.

After this, the tone of the room changed for the better, and Philip gave Xander a lesson on Kristen and Peter Blake (ex-Jason Brooks). He noted how those two were super loyal to each other, and there was no way they could flip Peter’s vote; he wouldn’t go against his sister. This conversation seemed to give Xander insight into the DiMera mind hive.

Xander ultimately appreciated Philip’s initiative, but he would have preferred Philip had given him a heads up. The communication between these two definitely needs to improve. Maybe it will now that Xander has asked Philip to move into the Kiriakis mansion.

Something they talked about during the episode was how the DiMeras backstab each other, but when faced with opposition, they do not break ranks. Xander mentioned how the bad blood between him and Philip doesn’t hold a candle to the DiMeras yet they live under the same roof and are sometimes a united front. So why shouldn’t they follow suit?

Twisted Sibling Synergy

Even though EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) found Ava (Tamara Braun), he ultimately left her there to be Rachel’s (Roslyn Gentle) hostage, just like Kristen did. First, Kristen’s mother knew he had stashed Rafe (Galen Gering) there. Second, she made him see that if they released Ava, it would cause immense trouble for Kid Rachel (Finley Rose Slater).

EJ’s always one to protect himself. He ensured Rachel would stay silent on the Rafe matter in exchange for his staying silent on the Ava matter. However, he did tell the Woman in White not to hurt Ava. Regardless, he chose himself and his niece’s welfare and got out of dodge.

What did you think of the sibling drama? Also, Sarah’s (Linsey Godfrey) chat with Kristen may have gotten her to realize she could live with Xander and Philip going after the rival company. What did you think of their convo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
