Xander and Sarah are turning into a real War of the Roses. Once again, Sarah tries to make Xander understand that she’s not trying to screw him over. She simply wants to take a vacation with Victoria. Also, in the Monday, July 14 episode of Days of Our Lives, that loan shark finally stopped lurking. He secured major leverage to ensure Doug pays his debt and potentially hands over Julie’s necklace, too.
Forget Vacation, Take a Staycation Instead
The interesting yet predictable part of the continuation of Sarah and Xander’s battle over whether Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) can take Victoria on vacation with her is that Xander (Paul Telfer) unleashed his custody strategy plan.
Obviously, he’ll play on her recent lies. Of course, he won’t be able to be too specific because it could blow up his and Philip’s (John-Paul Lavoisier) lies. In today’s episode, Xander brought up Sarah’s past mental health issues. He can also play on the fact that after she found out that Rachel wasn’t hers, she kidnapped Brady and Kristen’s daughter and took her to Paris.
He called Sarah mentally unstable. But he knew her issues resulted from Gwen (Emily O’Brien) slipping her a mind-altering drug that caused her to think she was a little girl. He laid out several of the things that he’ll undoubtedly have Melinda (Tina Huang) emphasize when they get to court.
It was pretty cold, but facts are facts. There are extenuating circumstances, however. And some of this can’t be brought up without exposing some of Xander’s misdeeds/lies.
All this vitriol and the back-and-forth of each other’s worst selves means Xander and Sarah need to stop attempting to solve the custody issue on their own. Justin (Wally Kurth) needs to cut his trip short and hightail it back to Salem, so these two can resolve things before someone does something even more drastic. What’s taking so long to get to the hearing stage?

Double Trouble
Meanwhile, Doug III (Peyton Meyer) can’t stay away from Julie’s (Susa Seaforth Hayes) necklace. He offered it up to the loan shark but told him he’d need time to get it. Said loan shark wasn’t having it. So, he kidnapped Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Ari (Marissa Reyes), forcing Doug to work on his timetable.

Mentioning that he could get the necklace was probably a stall tactic, but Doug should have known that it wouldn’t work. Now he has to get the criminal the money he owes and the necklace, if he can get it. That would involve stealing it from Gwen, somebody he has never even met. He doesn’t know where she is. And he doesn’t know how resourceful and stubborn the woman is.
Doug keeps digging himself a hole. How is he going to get himself, Ari, and Holly out of this one?
