Christmas at the Horton House had a prominent piece missing this year on Days of our Lives, but Doug wasn’t the only character missing from the family tradition.
Keeping With Tradition
For Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) first Christmas without her beloved husband, Doug (the late Bill Hayes), she was joined by family and friends and several Hortons to hang the ornaments on the tree. Holly (Ashley Puzemis) hung hers near Daniel’s (ex-Shawn Christian), Melanie’s (ex-Molly Burnett), and Parker’s, Shawn (Brandon Beemer) hung his with his parents’ and sister’s baubles, and Jack (Matthew Ashford), Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), and JJ (Casey Moss) all hung theirs with Abigail’s.
Of course, the moment when things turned wary was when Julie offered Doug III (Peyton Meyer) the opportunity to hang his grandfather’s ornament, which even allowed his name on the tree. But even though the tree was full of colorful names past and present, some prominent Salemites were still noticeably missing.
Where Are You, Hortons?
A big name missing from the festivities was Lucas (Bryan Dattilo). Despite his recent return to Salem for Doug’s funeral, Lucas’ ornament was never shown being hung on the tree. It almost seemed missing entirely, but eagle-eyed viewers could catch a quick glimpse at the green bauble hanging by the bottom of the tree while Julie thought back on her first Christmas Eve with Doug.

Another missing Horton was Will (Chandler Massey). Sure, he hasn’t been home in a while, but his life in Arizona doesn’t make him any less of a Horton in Salem, and with the legacy character returning in 2025, his name would have been nice to see on the tree. Will’s daughter, Arianna, was also nowhere to be seen, despite being included on the tree most years since her 2013 birth.
Was anyone else’s ornaments missing this year? Let us know in the comments.
