On the Wednesday, April 16 episode of Days of Our Lives, there was double couple trouble. JJ called Gabi into the Salem PD expressly to question her about the night of EJ’s shooting. Meanwhile, Rafe faced Jada at Small Bar. Neither of these interactions went well.
Suspicious Mind
While JJ (Casey Moss) had every right to question Gabi (Cherie Jimenez), his approach was kind of cold (but necessary). He started asking all the right questions. She had no idea that he had visited her house that night of the shooting. So when she told him that she was home after a long day of work, JJ knew she was lying. And he told her as much.
Maybe JJ should have let Shawn (Brandon Beemer) handle the interrogation. But he’s a cop and knows he has to be impartial. He needed to know Gabi’s alibi. Once he told her that he had stopped by her house around the time of the shooting and she wasn’t there, she suddenly came up with the story that she had left her planner on a bench in Horton Town Square. Such a shaky alibi.
What was perplexing was how Gabi chose to be shocked that JJ would even suspect her. She knows that he knows how much she hates EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). She made no bones about it. He even witnessed her training a gun on EJ not all that long ago. She could be upset about JJ being the one to question her, but she shouldn’t be shocked that her cop boyfriend had questions.
As she said, everybody in this town could be dragged into the precinct because of their hate for EJ. She’s one of them. Police interrogation was inevitable. Unfortunately for JJ, this questioning caused a major hiccup in their relationship.

More Broken Than Ever
While Gabi faced heat for her actions the night of the shooting, her brother faced heat for what happened the night before. At Small Bar, Rafe (Galen Gering) called Jada (Elia Cantu) out for sleeping with Shawn again. She immediately debunked his theory, and while it took a minute, Rafe ended up believing her.
The look on his face immediately changed to guilty, guilty, guilty. After telling Jada about sleeping with Sami (Alison Sweeney), Jada was devastated. Rafe said he wanted to work things out and told her he loved her. But he also equated what he did to what she did with Shawn. And as Jada pointed out, it wasn’t the same.

After all, Rafe didn’t bother to stay and confront Shawn. Nor did he try to find out the truth from Jada. Instead, he felt sorry for himself, and he felt justified in having sex with Sami. Also, he based his whole perspective on spotting Jada’s shirt on the couch. Meanwhile, Feniger (also Galen Gering), with the help of EJ, had an elaborate plan to humiliate Jada at the wedding. In addition, he looked exactly like Rafe and told her he no longer loved her.
Ultimately, Jada said she needed space. Rafe wanted space after she told him the truth about her and Shawn. So it was only right that he do the same for Jada.
